So with this news it seems SE will likely just keep pumping out portable interquel after portable interquel until the Kingdom Team ever get out of development Hell

Making games isn't that simple. To fully understand the PS3's hardware and make a game like that to it's fullest potential, of course it'll take a long time. Not to mention half the development team had to go work on FF13 instead at some point, so they lost a lot of potential progress.

All things aside, they do need to come out with kh3. I mean even people who don't even like the series want it to come out! When it comes out, then who knows, then kingdom hearts 4? Cause T N said that sora would go on.... But you know, I think that when kh3 does come out. the series will lose popularity.

If versus doesn't come out till 2011, there's no way KH3 will come out in 2012. It'll take more than one year to make KH3.

Especially after all the hype that's been built around it.

We must remember all of the things that they have to do before doing the announcement of when the game is going to be released.They first have to build the story,the characters,the fights,the cutscenes,do the voices for the cutscenes...and after that and much more they have to test it incase there's any glitches that they need to fix.It's a very long process,so if they haven't announced the release date,it must mean that they haven't even started in KH3,or that they started but that they still have a long way to go.

I don't know weather to hope the game is a failure as karma for holding back kh3, or to hope that is a good game because after 9 years the game better be good.

Im really sick of the sh*t, maybe they should cancel one or two of they're projects, or maybe just stop working on versus alltogether, and finish the other crap they're doing, and then when all thats out of the way they work on kh3 and verses since they'll have more freetime, except they'll try and squeeze in twenty more new ideas.

no what I'm saying is they need to finish what they are working on before tackling a project that would take years due to the other projects. finish 3rd birthday re:coded and agito, then come back to versus and kh3 when you have more time on you're hands, since a rushed project might not be as good as taking you're time.

I think the article was a bit harsh calling Versus SE's Duke Nukem Forever. Progress on the game has been moving very well lately, and it was delayed so much because of Final Fantasy XIII and BBS. With those out of the way, Versus has been moving along pretty well. In addition, screenshots have been released, and they're talking about making a big announcement soon.

Well it wouldn't be a totally bad idea for SE to cut their loses and abandon ship. I believe in game companies taking their time to develop their games FF XIII took 4 years and a fraction of the Kingdom team's manpower and turned out pretty good.

 

Insomniac Games started doing that for they're two latest titles and by the time they're done they'll have racked up 2 & 3 years of development time but thing is IG dont have dubious work ethos like announcing games 2 to 3 years before they come out I mean up until last year IG made one game a year since 2002 and they were full length games at the PS2 & PS3's best capabilities and they didn't poach development team members when they worked on multiple titles to cover their ass.

I'm telling you guys.

That's why they have multiple teams. It's not like one guy works on every game at once. Square Enix is a big company, who can afford a lot of talent. It's strange you'd say a rushed product, since that's the opposite of what comes to mind when you think about the company. Except maybe the spin of titles. The majors games they release have a huge amount of quantity and quality. Not to mention looking much better the pretty much everything else on the console.

How would abandoning their most popular franchise, after investing millions in it just this year, cut their losses? Birth By Sleep BTW, took four years to make, just like FF13, and it wasn't HD.

I don't get what you're going on about with Insomniac games. Are you saying they are manging their time better than Square? Because I highly doubt a PS2 games made in 2002 used the system to its fullest extent. And it's irrelevent anyways.

Well i only said it wasnt a bad idea, its one of many options. It really depends how much of a profit they honestly think they'll earn, they could definitely afford the loss the size the are now.

 

True BBS took 4 but only because SE poached the Osaka team because they desperately wanted ReCOM before the PS2's death kneel and japan's gradual shift to portable gaming, and FFXIII poached the Kingdom team because it was a HD game

 

I brought up IG because like SE they've been able to make at least 1 game once a year, and for two years, twice IG developed two in unison so it does prove their time management skills together without announcing a game years before its release are better work ethos SE should employ. Matter of fact IG back in mid 2000 was a smaller company of 40-ish people who in a year and a half with Naughty Dog's help were able to make a game visually on par with KH I and it did use a lot of EE's power.

Why don't they just drop the game or at least slow down it's production? Final Fantasy is one of the largest running game series of all time. The fans of FF definitely have enough games and I highly doubt they played EVERY single FF game (in which case they have WAY too much time on their hands). I'm sick of all these portable titles already. I want to enjoy KH on a big screen.

 

And as soon as they begin KH3, people will start demanding yet another FF game.
