FFVII Remake Will Run on Unreal Engine 4

Posted

According to an article by Gematsu, FFVII Remake will run on Unreal Engine 4.

“We realize how special Final Fantasy VII is to fans, and we place our trust in Unreal Engine 4 technology and tools to help deliver this long-awaited remake, crafted for modern platforms,” producer Yoshinori Kitase said. “Working with the team at Epic and having their support throughout this process was invaluable and we’re excited to bring the product of that collaboration to long-time fans and newcomers to the series."

If that's not enough proof, Epic Games has announced it as well.

It isn't that surprising. Most companies use Unreal Engine 4 these days.

Of course, Square Enix is too with KH3 & DQXI.

Haha, doubt Nomura would do that again.

We have switched engines from Unreal 4 to Real 4, developed by Boring Games.

We are also pleased to announce FFVII Remake will be available on iOS and Google Play.

:P

Question, does the engine still have pop in issues or is that fixed?

And here I thought FFVII remake would a game that came from the future...therefore it would be made on Unreal Engine 7

Thats good news, so many games these days use UE4

I am just surprised to hear that since it looks incredibly identical to FFXV, which is on the Luminous. But since Unreal Engine 4 is pretty universal at this point it makes sense.

That makes me happy. I'd buy the remake on Android for 60 bucks. Plus, it's another platform for the games to be sold on. I suspect it might have to be toned down... a lot but hey, as long as I get the game, I'm all g. Also, boring games sounds fun.

Yes, it's Unreal Engine 4. Fully expected.

That's because Luminous Engine isn't good to work with right?

They probably won't use it ever again for anything else...

I wonder when FFXVI is done, will they use that engine for other games like KH4 and such?
