Before you go waging war on me, hear me out. This may sound interesting for some of you.

Okay, so first things first, this is about Xion, and to be precise, her Name.

Every member in the organization's name are their somebody's name scrambled with an X. And this will soon apply to Xion as well! First, let's try removing the X in Xion. So we get a few possible names: Ion, Nio, Ino, Oin, Noi, and Oni. Now, that last name is a very interesting one.

Oni is known as a Japanese yokai in folklore, mainly as a demon, devil, ogre and troll.

So, could Xion's name be based on the mythical Oni? Hear this:

Oh, for those who haven't played through 358/2 Days, this may be spoilers. Just a warning.

Roxas and Xion, on Day 352, go to Halloween Town to find an Orcus separately. Where they end up finding each other, but their minds are being tricked into thinking that Roxas is fighting an Orcus, who is actually Xion, and vice versa. And as far as I remember, an Orcus is ALSO the name of a demon. Why does Xion see Roxas as an Orcus? Who knows? And I am not really the guy to have "Evidence", so don't entirely take my word for it. xD

So anyways, it's all just a small speculation and guess really. I can't prove it has any relevance to Xion's name, but that's just my theory.

Rock on!

Yeah cute, thing is, we already know for a fact that her name comes from No I, with I being an imaginary number, this was confirmed by both Nomura and the game (Days) itself.

I always thought her name was the abbreviation for "number " (No) and the abbreviation for imaginary (I). So here name Meaning would be "Number Imaginary" or "Imaginary Number" and then the "X"Xion- the imaginary number member

^This Xion's name comes from No. i, her ID as an experiment.

Alright. But hey, you gotta admit, I had something going there.

Actually it was confirmed that her name comes from "No. i", which is her model number as a Replica. Since all the replicas were likely given designated model numbers, Xion was likely the first of an early set, thus her "number" was "i" as in "imaginary". This is in reference to the fact that she is not a "true" member of Organization XIII, rather an "imaginary member". So the fact that even her original name isn't even real is like yet another slap in the face about how "fake" she is supposed to be. Interestingly enough though, the name Xion is supposed to come from a Japanese flower, and it's name is supposed to literally translate to "I'll never forget you", sort of another connection to the whole memory loss thing, and of course like Kairi and Namine her name also holds some water connection in Japanese, in this case "tide", something that is also fleeting. It's like every part of her name is screaming symbolism about what is going to happen to her.

I've been beaten to it, but Xion is No. i (Number i). Now, let me show you something, we know that Xion was made before Repliku, so she's the forst Replica we know of, and posibly the first one in existance, so I always thought her name was No. I.

I = 1 in Roman numericals, so that would be the first replica (No. I = No.1).

Again with the "people make something sound more complicated than it actually is" thing that's all too common in this fandom.

Her name has been confirmed to be "No. i"

But yeah, there could be other hidden meanings to her name as well.
