What's the difference between facts and beliefs

Posted

I know this may be a common knowledge question, but I'd like to know because in an article I read a few days ago, it said that in reality, our opinions are more based on our beliefs than facts themselves. I just want to make sense out of it and please, try to not make a huge debate of out this. I'd also want to know of what the article said is true or not, if you don't mind.

Facts are things that have proven correct with evidence while beliefs are basically a trust, faith, or confidence in someone or something that may or may not be proven.

A fact is something that is common solid knowledge to everyone that's usually been proven and accepted by most of humanity. A belief is usually based on internal and external influences around us like our family, friends and personal experiences. And yes, opinions are totally based on our beliefs and conscience. Not everyone has the same sense of right and wrong.

Peace!

Fact is when you have proof. Belief is when you have no doubt of something, but don't have physical proof either.

However I'll always know that my beliefs are fact.

Thanks guys, so it's a believe that I think that story and gameplay in video games are equally important in video games?

I believe that my mother loves me, but there's no way to prove it, so it's not a fact.

Doesn't make it less important or meaningful to trust that she does though.

Well, to my understanding, facts are solid proof statements that discuss something in its total absolution!

Beliefs, on the other hand, are things that we consider to be true, or consider to be absolute, ya know?  The difference is that facts are already determined, whereas beliefs are driven by people's opinions, ya know?
