Nomura: No plans to release Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX or HD 2.5 ReMIX on PlayStation 4

Sora96

Back in December, Tai Yasue, the co-director of the Kingdom Hearts series revealed that both Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX could make their way to PlayStation 4. However, in an interview with Ruliweb, Tetsuya Nomura, the director of the Kingdom Hearts series has stated there are no plans to do so.

Ruliweb: It's been two years since the first official announcement of Kingdom Hearts 3.

Nomura: Usually, most of the reactions from the KH fans and media consist of "Please put [this world] in the game!" (Laughs) Rather than comments on the game system itself, we get requests for "Put this world in, put my world in!" much more. Whichever world is a popular map should determine whether or not the masses will greatly enjoy Kingdom Hearts 3. Recently, we also received a significant increase in requests for the Kingdom Hearts 1.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts 2.5 Remix to be released on the PS4. Unfortunately, we don't have any plans for that.

The most likely reason for this appears to be that they do not want to delay Kingdom Hearts III, as both HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX were both developed by the Kingdom Hearts team for unknown reasons. Tai Yasue stated in the interview linked above that they did not want Kingdom Hearts III delayed. Another likely reason is that the PlayStation 4 requires all games to have digital versions while both HD 1.5 ReMIX & HD 2.5 ReMIX did not on PlayStation 3, likely due to licensing issues.

Kingdom Hearts HD 3.5 Remix (KH3D + KH3 Final Mix).

Kingdom Hearts: Xehanort Saga (all in one)

This will probably happen after the KH3 release.

Bro, Nomura is a legend.

So are Toriyama and Ito but Nomura is not even incharge of a division. Hashimoto is the brand manager and senior vice president. He's also incharge of the KH division.

I'm fine with this. Despite my disappointment, I would rather them not delay Kingdom Hearts III and definitely rather KH1.5 and 2.5 NOT be all digital versions.

I would love this idea.

Good. I didn't want to have to platinum them again.

They could have done shared-trophy lists like X/X-2 HD and FFXIV.

But if it ever does happen that's unlikely now.

I'm not surprised. Especially if it has anything to do with Utada's copyright.

I've heard it has something to do with Disney's copyright, as I've never really seen any downloadable KH games before, and PS4 games are either download-only or physical + download.

Rumor has it that it's more about the licensed music.

If they can they have thus far chosen not to.

They want to focus on their game streaming service, so you *can* technically play PS3 games on PS4. It just won't use much of the hardware. Edited by Flaming Lea

They'll probably release them on PS4 eventually. Probably after Kingdom Hearts 3 comes out. There were games that they ended up releasing after stating they had no plans of releasing them: Birth By Sleep Final Mix and the obvious release of an HD remake of Dream Drop Distance next year.

I actually think they would be missing an opportunity by not releasing both collections at a discount on PS4 in the months leading up to KH3s release. Naughty Dog is doing it with Uncharted, Sony did it with GoW when GoW3 was new, and lots of movie studios do it when sequels and remakes are close to release.

True. I've been thinking lately that they could make a PS4 collection before Kingdom Hearts 3, including Dream Drop Distance. It's possible.

Either he's lying or they aren't completely comfortable with current progress of KH3 to warrant shifting people over to port the games.

They could just outsource the ports, but we shall see. Nomura has fooled us a couple of times and there are still three major Japanese gaming events to announce it.

Don't lose hope fam.

Kind of reminds me between nomura, and all the FFXV news, they really seem to lie a lot these days.
