  1. I can't tell if you missed the joke or if you're being even more subtlely sarcastic back lol edit: okay I'm gonna explain it anyway the joke is Marlboros due to all the advertising and stuff were for a time considered the "elite" cigarette bought by richer people (bourgeois) and the poorer folks used stuff like Camel lights. I was joking that this kid's parent is teaching him to be an elitist because he's dressing him up fancy in Marlboros instead of the common Camel.
  2. Welcome aboard cutie! lmao I knew you'd pick some artsy KH avatar
  3. i talked kate into making an account!!
  4. What kind of shitty rich parent does this? Your kid'll use Camel lights like the rest of the world you bourgeois scum.
  5. I'm pretty sure NASA would agree that they never saw anything and they would never speak of it again
  6. I think there's definitely other life out there. The universe is so massive that it just doesn't make sense for us to be the only sentient creatures in existence (and for the scientific part of that there's the Drake equation, which guarantees there's life out there, and lots of it) I don't really know about finding alien life in the next 20 years. Depending on how technologically advanced it is there are two possibilities - 1) they already found it and are keeping it secret or 2) they're gonna find it and not tell us because if there's some super intelligent alien out there with ultra fast spaceships and laser beams it's going to cause mass hysteria. I think they'd only tell us if they found some very, very new species who wouldn't be able to develop space travel technologies for an extremely long time. But who knows, maybe I'm just paranoid and they'd tell us immediately if they found something. I think it's kind of cool to imagine other life, but if it can get to earth it can probably kill us too, so that's a bit of a downside.
  7. 1) Obviously they don't because Macklemore is worth $16 million, Nicki Minaj is worth $45 million, Lil Wayne is worth $140 million, and Jay Z is worth $520 million. YOU may not like their music but there are millions who do, so you don't get to decide whether or not they're any good to everyone. And no, believe it or not, the majority of the criticism is mean and baseless and it has literally nothing to do with their lyrics. The articles (albeit primarily insulting female rappers rather than males) that mock them for their clothing choices, their fan base, their car choices, their friends - literally every topic under the sun. That has nothing to do with their style of music - that's being mean (and seriously, some of the stuff in People magazine is nasty) for the sake of being mean. 2) That's funny because as I pointed out before they're worth millions upon millions of dollars, so obviously the songs are not "terrible" to a tremendous amount of people. They are telling their fan base (on average 13-25 years old) to disregard people who are jokes to them for no reason. That's the age where a lot of people are dealing with bullies in their lives so you know what? A lot of them like hearing that even some talented famous person deals with haters and that you can be successful and happy anyway. If it's making lots of other people happy and not affecting you at all then you don't really have any right to be mad. 3) Are you actually saying that rappers barely work? Writing and recording and making music videos for new music, going on tour, scheduling tv/radio/etc appearances, going to autograph signings, and being constantly criticized all while having a family life is easy? You could have fooled me. Being famous sounds a lot easier than it is. None of them are surrounded by ass kissers?? They get told the criticism all the time, and they make efforts to improve. That's a completely baseless assumption. It seems like you're mad simply because if they could they wouldn't listen to you - well, the fact is, they can't make everyone happy. And you're not one of the happy ones, but they've listened to other advice that's made millions of people happy. I'm sorry that you don't get to boss every rapper around, I really don't know what else to tell you. 4) Oh sorry let me just google the article that presents the exact statistic of how many people use hater seriously instead of sarcastically. I apologize for the massive 1%-5% discrepancy in my estimated statistic. 5) Nobody's using it to excuse their flaws I literally have no idea where you're getting that from? They might use it to excuse your opinion, for example - because it's an opinion and if they disagree they don't have to change their music style to make you happy. I think you're going to be hard-pressed to find the rapper that thinks they're perfect - people have stage personas, but they're real people. Hell, Ke$ha was checked into rehab a while ago because the media made her feel so bad about her weight that she had anxiety attacks. Just because they sing about something doesn't mean they actually think they're some walking god. Yes, that is a problem - luckily it's not one that any rappers I know of are dealing with. Thanks for asking (btw Mrs is only for married women, you would use Miss for an underage unmarried woman or Ms for an of age unmarried woman. And we should probably transition to a PM or end this discussion)
  8. You gotta be honest with yourself - are you going to enjoy it as much as if you hadn't known anything? If you're the type of person who can still enjoy it while knowing all the details then by all means go for it, but if you're a little hesitant that you might not enjoy it as much because you already know the ending then it's probably not worth the money. GameStop is selling it for $30 so you have to decide if you'd rather play something you already know the entire plot of or if you'd prefer to spend your money on a different game.
  9. Lol you type better than people who've spoken it their entire lives, no worries. Accepted
  10. 1) It's an expression. I'm saying they get criticized over every little thing and it'd be impossible for them to listen to everyone's advice, especially since most of it is intentionally mean and it isn't any kind of constructive criticism. 2) Nicki Minaj is a feminist icon who supports girls getting an education and embracing their potential and she has advocated time and time again for her fans to go to college, stay in school, and to cope with bullies because life is worth it. Macklemore writes songs aimed at a young audience and in songs like Same Love he defends gay marriage so that lgbtqiap kids won't be bullied for it. You're dehumanizing these people - someone can rap songs about drunkeness and partying but that doesn't at all mean they're ignorant people who ignore criticism. The fact that they got to where they are in life says the opposite. 3) It doesn't really matter what you think. Other people like it and those artists are working to keep improving, even if you don't like it. It doesn't change the fact that they work hard. You can't be a famous rapper without doing a lot of hard work - tour schedules are grueling, in addition to everything else. These are hard working people and regardless of whether or not you like their music you can't just disregard all of the hard work they put into it. 4) So if 1 in 20 people uses it that way nobody's allowed to use it anymore and it's a dumb word? Okay then. Just let people have their fun, people are kidding 99% of the time when they say it. 5) It really isn't - haters by your definition are present in everyone's life. Why is that one girl from hockey constantly yelling at me and no one else? Hater. Why is Nicki Minaj attacked for painting a sports car pink? Haters. I think it's a silly word, yeah, but "people who hate for no reason" exist. Kind of like you've been hating really hard on rap artists who haven't done anything to you and work hard to create music that other people enjoy.
  11. About the rappers - can you even blame them? People send them death threats if they even breathe wrong. They tell kids who idolize them forget the people who are hating on you - a lot of kids deal with bullies, so if they feel better after listening to a song like that I don't think you have the right to tell them it's dumb. None of those people ignore criticism because they feel like it - they are professional musicians which requires a lot of dedication and constant improvement. But they write off the people who talk shit about them for no reason (there were countless articles mocking Nicki Minaj for buying herself a pink sports car, for example) and these artists are just saying in their songs "screw these rude people who are mean for no reason". I can't even begin to see what's wrong with that. I don't see a lot of people using it in that context, so I think you're really reaching to come up with a scenario. If someone is being given constructive (not rude and pointless) criticism and they reply with "haters" it's usually a joke, and if it's not, they're probably 12. I've used the term haters before when talking about people who bullied me. I know other people who've done the same. 99% of the time people use "haters" to describe people who aren't giving constructive criticism - it's a term usually reserved for rude, bellicose people. The majority of people using the term aren't using it in the way you're suggesting, so you don't really have anything to be mad about imo.
  12. You stand in the crowd, heart pounding in anticipation. Sweat drips down the back of your neck and you curl your fingers anxiously. Your escort dips her hand into one of the glass bowls and every fiber of your being ignites when she calls your name. You are a tribute. The Victor - a Hunger Games RP {Rules of the 58th Annual Hunger Games} You cannot kill off another character without permission from its creator Swearing and romance are allowed, but don't get graphic I want this to be as big of an RP as possible, however, I have these requirements: you must be able to spell at least most words properly, and make posts that actually meet the section guidelines. (i.e. they must be at least 5 lines, longer if you can. An occasional shorter post due to lack of action is, of course, allowed.) We will agree on the victor towards the end of the RP You may only control one character You have to give your character a first AND last name Have fun & ask if you have any questions! {Tributes} Name: Age: Gender: District: Appearance (no pictures, please): Bio (it doesn't have to be overly long, but more than one sentence or two, please): My Tribute: Name: Anna Carson Age: 16 Gender: Female District: 11 Appearance: Anna stands at 5'6 and is of average build. She is skinny but strong, and wears her stringy black hair in a bun. Her skin is deeply tanned, and she wears an old, tattered grey jumpsuit for work. Her eyes are hazel, and draw more focus than her button nose and heart-shaped face. Bio: Anna's life in District 11 was average. She grew up in poverty with six brothers and sisters, one of whom, when Anna was eleven, was chosen for the Games. Anna's brother died before the Games really even begun. The bloodbath at the Cornucopia that started every Hunger Games was where he died. Anna vowed to never, ever be chosen for the Games, even going as far as not to take tesserae. This left her family hungry, but Anna was far too terrified of being murdered on television to care about eating less. She developed an interest in astronomy in her rare spare time in the hopes that she could escape District 11 and use the stars as a guide. {N.B. I will create any filler characters needed after sign-ups end} {CURRENT LIST OF TRIBUTES} District 1 Male - Female - District 2 Male - Female - District 3 Male - Jeremy Elgae Female - District 4 Male - Female - District 5 Male - Female - District 6 Male - Female - District 7 Male - Female - District 8 Male - Female - District 9 Male - Female - District 10 Male - Female - District 11 Male - Female - Anna Carson District 12 Male - Kevin Carome Female - Dragonett Firestone
  13. New info about some passengers/family, both good and depressing. Let's start with the bad: one woman lost her brother on MH370 and she's now lost her step-daughter on MH17. It's really tragic and I can't believe two major air disasters have happened within months of each other with the same airline. This stuff is so infrequent and it's usually a different airline every time - it's scary how many people have lost their lives on Malaysia Airlines in just the past few months. (Although disclaimer - my dad works with airlines pretty frequently and he says they're a good airline - they've never lost any of his cargo shipments and when he's flown with them he's had nice flights, so take that for what you will.) Here's some good news though: a woman and her infant were bumped off the flight just before take-off. I guess she's a lucky lady. US airlines have agreed since essentially the beginning of the Ukraine crisis to avoid airspace near the Ukrainian-Russian border, but I guess other airlines didn't make the same call. I remember hearing that the French government has ordered flights to avoid that area, so if anyone's going to be travelling in that area (or even near it) you should probably ask for a copy of the intended flight path before you board to make sure it's going to be flying on the safest possible route.
  14. @cucco you're beautiful, what pink lips
  15. It's some people's personal preference - I'd cry happy tears if I got to play with Anna and Elsa, but I know plenty of people who are horrified by the idea. You're never going to know exactly why people like a certain character, and I don't think there's anything wrong with wanting to see a beloved character in your favorite game series. Personally I wouldn't want to see it but I'm not the one making the game so it's not really up to me.
  16. *STREET NOT STRAIGHT OMG
  17. @cucco literally walking down the straight could turn someone gay have you seen girls like straight up 90% are cute as hell
  18. I'm not a GTA fan to begin with, but I wanted to point out that having a movie could be awful for them. There's no guarantee that a large percentage of the game's fans will go see the movie, so if the movie flops, it'll look bad for the series and could hurt sales.
  19. oh i guess i should change it then i've actually decide i'll be an international relations-political science double major.
  20. I stopped watching for a while so wow I completely forgot how great this show is! I think I'm going to make another Korra cosplay (since my last one wasn't particularly great - my armbands fell apart after an hour)
  21. do y'all think i should change up my profile or is it fine as is?
  22. tbh I like Democracy 3 more than Civilization V. I still love Civ but I like how in Democracy you get to play around with the political aspect of running a country, and in Civ I'm a lot more focused on conquering the world and building wonders than I am on any kind of political stuff (not that there's much of it anyway).
