Zack's torso was mutilated, and he was laying in the a pile of blood/rainwater hardly breathing. Tidus just says I have to leave and jumps ship. And Yuna tries to stop him but he is an illusion. Then she tries to call him back and he does not answer. Basic love story bullshit.
