It would work because once Adamantium sets it's molecular structure will not budge. When they forge Adamantium, they have to keep the components that make separate until it's cast. Once those elements combine, I believe they have 8 minutes to cast it into what they're making, because whatever shape it's in once it's hardens is permanent. It can't be reheated or remolded after that. A light saber would have to be powerful enough to break apart it's molecular structure to break it.

No, heat based objects would not break it. Once Adamantium is hardened, it's molecular structure prevents it from being remolded, fractured, cut or melted. Once the metal has set it's nigh indestructible. It takes an extremely powerful force to break it apart.
