Yeah, one of my favourite aspects of Awakening was the freedom they gave you to try out different combinations of people. Really adds to the game and makes it more personal.

Not to mention the support system isn't as good in the older ones. You cant freely match characters. No shippings allowed

Hmm, the difficulty has a lot to do with the lack of a map. The game is quite linear and so there isn't really any opportunity to grind. Exp. becomes a precious resource you need to share around. True tactics!

Nah, I don't usually reset. I played some of the older games which aren't as accessible as the new ones, so resetting wasn't really an option there . Speaking of which, you should give the GBA Fire Emblem a try. It isn't as forgiving as Awakening, but it is still pretty great. The Wii U VC has it I believe.

All the girls I was considering to pair up my character with died. :'(

I had that problem in Awakening, wanted to pair Robin with Lucina Ended up with Tiki instead lel
