  1. Pretty much, yeah. It's a little premature for people to assume Nintendo is betraying them, at any rate.
  2. It didn't; they still sold GBAs and even came out with a new one, the Micro. Thing is, the DS happened to also be a GBA anyway, so people just naturally moved on. Nintendo didn't replace the GBA, consumers did. It also might be just easier to refer to it as a home console as opposed to some sort of supplemental hybrid of handheld and console, or whatever it might end up actually being. The NX could be a totally new sort of thing, there might just not be a good name for what it is yet.
  3. Nintendo doesn't consider themselves in competition with Sony or Microsoft at all, it makes sense that they wouldn't base their development cycles on either companies plans. Nintendo always does what they want, when they want, and that can unfortunately leave some fans feeling burned sometimes. It's nothing new, though.
  4. I don't see what's so weird about it. The Wii U came out almost exactly 6 years after the Wii did, and the Wii came out approximately 5 years after the Gamecube; assuming the NX is a completely new console that's supposed to replace the Wii U (which isn't confirmed), it's perfectly on par with the usual timeline Nintendo consoles go by.
  5. This poll is bullshit, SoraxTarzan is the only good ship.
  6. It might build to something, I guess, but every time Namine is brought up in interviews, Nomura always says what boils down to "she's special, so rules don't apply". It gives me the impression that he just doesn't want to bother with her; he invented a lot of rules for Nobodies and heart transference junk after she was established and it's a lot of work to "fix" a character that doesn't fit those rules. It could be that he's just being coy and not giving away his plans for her so it's actually interesting when KH3 comes out, but I'm not getting that vibe. And Kairi being a PoH is pretty much the only thing she's got going for her anymore. Just having a Keyblade doesn't mean anything anymore- she's one of (at least) eight people to use a Keyblade, and all of them have tons more combat experience than her. If she doesn't have some sort of pure light magic power she can call on, or some kind of ability to drive away darkness, or something unique like that, then she's just another Keyblade user, only without any of the skill or character development the other wielders have. KH3 is liable to change that, but making her no longer be a PoH takes away something special and cool that's just hers- no other PoH can use a Keyblade (presumably) and no other wielder has a pure heart. Plus, the whole concept of Sora and Kairi being a cocktail of each other and another guy that's in a coma in another world and the magic clone versions of themselves confuses the hell out of me. If they're partly other people, does that mean they're not themselves? If Roxas and Namine become their own people, or if even just Ven gets his heart back (and of course he will), do Sora and Kairi lose parts of themselves? And if not, then any portion of Ven's heart inside either of them would have affected them in any meaningful way, right?
  7. Was it canonically established that Namine is part Ventus? I don't remember hearing that anywhere, but there might have been some journal entry from BBS or obscure interview with Nomura that explained it and I just missed it. Roxas is obviously more or less a clone, but other than her hair color being a completely different shade of blonde than his, I don't see any connection between Namine and Ven. Even assuming that Ven's heart somehow did get mixed in with Namine and that somehow transferred darkness into Kairi, it could be argued that it wouldn't matter; since Kairi's heart is pure light, they could easily say that it just can't be corrupted. It's not even a stretch to say that Kairi's heart can have a kind of cleansing effect- she brought Sora back from being a Heartless when was consumed by darkness, why can't she scrub any darkness that tries to get into her own heart? I mean, it's totally possible they might go that route and basically retcon Kairi into no longer being a PoH, but they could just as easily not do it that way and maybe not remove one of the things that actually makes Kairi special. I personally would certainly prefer if they didn't demote her from Princess status based on a technicality.
  8. I'm not really seeing the connection between Sora or Ventus having darkness in their hearts and somehow that transfers to Kairi having darkness in hers. Her heart was fully intact inside Sora for all of KH1, right? And then it went back into her body once Sora released both of theirs (and somehow that made Namine) still fully intact. There's no instance I can think of where any sort of darkness could have seeped in or whatever. Then again, this is KH, and yeah, who knows? I doubt it, but I also doubted that we'd get a completely superflous 14th Org member or that every main villain in the series would spontaneously come back to life for bullshit reasons.
  9. Better than being a Valve fan. At least SE makes games every now and again.
  10. I'd be pretty into that. It'd for sure be better than Xehanort and his 12 Xehanort clones being the only actual villains in KH3. If anything though, I'd like it a lot more if Maleficent were remaking her own League of Villains to counter MX's New Org- I doubt she feels good about being used and abused by the guy in his various forms, and she still wants to conquer all worlds herself. Plus, I like the idea of different factions fighting each other and trying to prevent other groups from gaining ground and basically for control of Kingdom Hearts. Almost like it's a, y'know, Keyblade War.
  11. Yeah, they can. My friend collects them and imports them all the time, there's no region-lock.
  12. "I sure do love my $400 Bloodborne machine!"
  13. It's not that we don't understand, it that's we're lazy and we don't understand why you're not. Why bother making yourself look good when you can just toss on a T-shirt and gym shorts and call it a day? Makes no sense!
  14. Shaping up to = doesn't have now. We don't live in the future, we live in the present.
  15. Me and my brother keep getting into arguments over which console we should each get, and every time we can only ever name two games for PS4 or Xbox One. That said, we're specifically not counting multi plat games. If you're looking for a system that can play a lot of games that aren't console exclusive and have lots of definite games coming out soon, either one is a good choice. And if you really want a game with tons of good exclusives, the Wii U exists, though for some reason everyone thinks Nintendo is going to drop it next year despite them never doing that with any console they've ever made.
  16. Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century
  17. I do quite enjoy Yusuke's character arc- complete and total dick slowly turns into a great hero. Most shonen characters start out really good-natured or just plain simple (Goku, Luffy, Gon, etc.), I like that Yusuke was a piece of shit to start with. Plus, he has all the best bros (Kuwabara, Hiei, Kurama).
  18. Neither. I'd end up as either one of the unnamed NPCs from KH or one of the boring non-shinobi civilians from Naruto, so I'll stay where I am, thanks.
  19. Nomura's making it sound too ambitious for me to think it'll be any better than the HD ReMixes. Given how much he's said about open flowing worlds and few loading screens, it might be a Too Human situation, where there are a few obscenely long loading screens that make Sonic 06 look reasonable but then huge chunks of gameplay that just work perfectly with no extra loading required; I think I might be okay with that.
  20. The original Spyro trilogy, especially Year Of The Dragon- that game is seriously better than any Mario game I've ever played. Tons of varied game play, four cool side characters to play as (plus Sparx), fantastic level design, just beautiful. Best platformer of its generation to me. Generally the whole Ratchet & Clank series, lots of fun personality, interesting alien planets and tons of fun weapons to dick around with. A Crack In Time and Into The Nexus make for some of the best games you could ever play on the PS3. Pokemon Heart Gold/Soul Silver, maybe the best remakes of any games ever. They kept everything that was great about the originals, updated it with great mechanics from more recent games and let me drag my Pokebros behind me out in the open. Best Pokemon games in my mind. Fallout 3 and New Vegas, particularly NV (try as i might, I just can't get into the original Fallout games). Great free open world, scores of sidequests and unique NPCs to interact with, companions with great backstory and abilities, great voice actors (Danny Trejo, Felicia Day, Matthew Perry, among many many others). Sadly, the games are glitchy as firetruck and tend to crash all the time, among many other frustrating bugs, but I think it's more than worth it for the fun you get when the games work right. Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door. Forget Final Fantasy, forget Shin Megami Tensei, forget any other turn-based RPG. TTYD is the best one ever made, bar none.
  21. I think it's be pretty cool. Unless they're completely changing the way they make KH games, there'll likely be more "spinoff" games where you play as someone other than Sora, and I hope to god there are good new protags, so if there is a new game with a new main character, sure, sounds like it could be fun.
  22. Jesus christ, I keep forgetting how many cool video games are coming out this year. Goddamn.
  23. Yeeeees, Fallout Shelter is on Android August 13. FINALLY.
  24. Except he still lost to Xemnas in DDD despite going full on Friend Mode. Besides, why wouldn't those same rules apply to Riku, Terra, Aqua, Ventus or Roxas? They're all playable main characters and they fight for their friends too.
