The Haven (Sign-ups and OOC Chat Thread)
Hi, everyone. Vaude here with a new roleplay that I hope everyone will enjoy. There will be action. There will be romance. But, chiefly, there will be cooperation. This roleplay takes place as two parts: within a safe haven where you can discuss things with your fellows and test your unique strengths in arena matches, and within the multi-universal worlds where you combat creatures both sentient and animal with your fellows. Your purpose is unknown, but staying inside the safe haven without doing anything for too long (three weeks) causes you to disappear. With every disappearance, however, there is a new appearance. Another unlucky, or lucky, person is brought to this safe haven, again with unique abilities that can help his or her comrades. You must fight or at the very least assist to survive. You are given food, shelter, robotic assistants that rebuild themselves, and ample amounts of time to improve yourselves and others, but you must prove useful to your community or risk being removed. Three weeks is your allotted time before you must visit the many worlds that lay outside the gate to this sanctuary. A job board will be provided in this RP to give people adventures and, thus, fun. They are rated along the following tier system from lowest and least difficult to highest and most difficult: Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Alexandrium. Go as a group for the more difficult tiers, unless you like a challenge. Your imagination is the only limit when fighting enemies. Be as powerful as you'd like. MAP OF THE HAVEN: RULES: JOB BOARD / QUEST LIST: SHOP LIST: CHARACTER CREATION (for both new and active players): CHARACTERS CURRENTLY ACTIVE: CHARACTERS RETIRED: THE MAIN AND SUB STORIES THUS FAR: [[Edit on 9/14/18: Added age and race to the character sheet as optional possibilities. Made tweaks to powers and weapons. Added the rule of having two characters at most. Added a directory to existing characters. Edit on 9/15/18: Finalised name for the RP and was changed on 9/18/18. Edit on 10/21/18: Edited links for characters due to server transition and appended the job board. Edit on 2/6/19: Changed layout and added shop list. Edit on 4/29/19: Changed layout due to lack of working spoiler labels and made "CHARACTERS RETIRED" list. Edit on 5/19/19: Added titles for quests which were removed by the renovation of the site. Added "THE MAIN AND SUB STORIES THUS FAR" blurb.]]

Overworld RP *COMPLETE*
- Odin, combining an attack with Eclaire against the Wyrm - Odin felt rather triumphant about somehow delivering multiple attacks with a single thrust, withdrawing his sword from the weakened area that Henry created and tearing away from the dragon when it seemed to be readying a counter towards him and the others, rising up into the air with speed. He was just a moment faster than the Xeno'Jiiva's descent towards the ground, dodging the crushing blow of its massive forefeet, but not fully escaping the explosive shrapnel of the detonating fissures. Several marks and jagged sections of earthen floor gashed exposed flesh, whether it be his face or his arms. He held back a grunt of pain as he withdrew one particularly deep piece of shrapnel from the flesh of his right upper arm. Glancing over to the others to see how they were faring, he noticed the friendly face of Soren in the background, having just reunited with the gang after completing the labyrinth. He seemed to be ignored, the poor gent, but sadly this was no time for Odin to cheer him up with a bit of immediate recognition. Instead, it was time to finish this creature. With lightning-aided speed, he jumped onboard the creature with several other members that had pierced the hide of the creature. Eclaire was using a significant-seeming power of cryogenesis which garnered his attention, the crystalline blossom of frost and ice delving into the creature along with her silver sword . . . or was that Shiva's? It looked remarkably similar. Whether or not this was the case, he landed close to her and held out his hand, touching the foil of the blade with electricity dancing around his fingers. "Electric Minefield," he muttered under his breath, a glow of St. Elmo's fire unnaturally forming around the blade before a great surge of electricity entered through the sword and into the dragon. Paired with the ice that already existed within the dragon, these explosive mines nestled around Eclaire's attack will launch the crystalline shards within the dragon's flesh in every direction, likely cutting through the innards and muscle like butter.

Prologue: The Hunt for Captian Greyhawk.
Adamina chuckled at Tibarn's comment about slowness as she watched him jot down a collection of notes, her quick mind coming into play when discerning them. There were a number of confusing areas, but she figured them out for the most part. Her eyes sparkled to life at the idea of torching a wall, but it seemed like that was downplayed by the group, or maybe just from Tibarn, so she decided against taking immediate action. The gleaning about the guard was useful, and she wondered if the guard was able to be fully hypnotised or not. If he did not have very strong willpower, they can easily extract information from him. She hoped such was the case. "See you in a few, hon!" she sent back with an elegant wave, just in case the guard was not well on his way to Hypnosis City just yet. After Tibarn would leave, she would wave over to the guard to bring the meal stuffs over. "Sit down and take a load off, if you would like," she replied to the guard, hoping he would do so. It would make the session of probing his mind with Daniel's great abilities subtler, quicker, and easier. The empty room Solomond described sounds like a good hanger entrance. If we can gain entrance to it, our bounty claim can be nearly assured, she thought to herself, being no longer in psychic connection with the others. Daniel does not look so good, however. He might be straining his natural gift for multitasking again.

- Rufus Contralto, against a Komodo Dragon - Rufus' ears shot up, perked and primed, as he zoomed out of the dragon's visage and toward Jynn. Regardless of his loss of memory with every wish, he was ready to grant his allies' wishes if it meant something to them or someone else. "Okay!" he voiced in a very Mokuba-esque manner, whoever that was. "I will grant you a better digesti--oh, flight? That'll do! Zippy-dippy, pasta salad, presto! YOUR WISH IS GRANTED! The wish granter is not responsible for fraying, tattering, or disappearance of clothes in part or in whole. Standard wish making applies. Liking of results may vary." In a sudden flash of phosphorescent cookies being dipped in radioactive milk, and with the ever-present smell of scented candles, Rufus' hands and eyes lit up in a blue aura as he transferred the equally hued magic to Jynn. The magic would flood into his body before pooling into the area where his wings would have been, and spread outward in a great arc, with wings sprouting immediately behind. ((And with that, Jynn has flight again! Before you reply, Endless, please wait for Mystics to post before you continue with the Xeno'Jeeves post. Time was not an ally to Mystics as of late.))

The "How dare you stand where he stood" meme was pretty great, even if short-lived. =P And funnily enough, I was thinking about the Leeroy Jenkins one too after sending those last three! Good ones one and all. Rough

*bows*, thank you! I am worried for the poor guy. He enters a place where concentrating is difficult, and what happens? He multitasks and tries to drink the difficulty away.

The guard left the room originally, from what I see, but let's say he came back with everyone's choice of meals and drinks and became psychically pushed. That way Addie can have her water, Jake gets Eclaire's meal, the other boys get a stiff drink, and the guard fella is soothed and can be convinced to reveal private information about the establishment, Everyone wins . . . except, er, the guard . . . and Eclaire, and whoever else is awaiting food. In other news, does anybody mind cluing Adamina in about the situation through their character. She'd love to bust some locks or walls via torching. She'll do it the good ol' KotOR way, by punching it with her weapon.

- Odin and Rufus Contralto, fighting Xeno-Jeeves in the Major Test of Strength - Rufus frowned as he let down his arms finally, feeling a little drained from attempting to seal the magic of a creature that did not have magic to begin with. With a pant, he looked around the room, hoping everyone was all right, and caught the gaze of Jynn during the one time the prince looked in his direction. What were the odds of that? Grinning maniacally, Rufus felt that much more special and gave it his all with annoying the absolute tar out of the dragon. "HEY! LOOKIE HERE, YOU BIG, STINKY, UGLY KOMODO MONITOR!" he shouted, hoping to attract the dragon's attention as he zipped in front of its right eye and smacked his own rump tauntingly. Still grinning like a fool, he fumbled within his pockets and pulled out a piece of lint. "I got something for you, something you'll love! Follow the string, boy!" Meanwhile, Odin watched as the mighty beast fell under the great barrage of elements being inflicted towards it, his head still spinning from Mariel's sonic scream. Sound waves, once locked within them, were very hard from which to escape scot-free, but he soon was able to hear more than muffled noises when the beast renewed itself, and stronger, at that. The grip on his sword tightened as he analysed the situation from afar, carefully observing the strength of the energy beam, and the rain of giant crystals from the ceiling. Stepping out of the line of fire with the speed of greased lightning, Odin raised Lysander above his head, one hand stroking its golden blade from hilt to tip. I suppose it is time to use my "Flying General," he thought to himself, his remaining eye narrowing as he surged toward the dragon's chest at incredible speed, neverminding gravity as he moved in a straight line. Drawing back Lysander in order to do a thrust, he aimed for the area Henry struck and jabbed his sword towards it. With his gained speed, he concluded that the strike should penetrate the dragon's hide, regardless of the strength of its crystals or scales. Luckily, Rufus was there to provide distraction, and Helios on top of the dragon to deliver backstabbing blows. If judging from what happened with others, magic was sealed by the dragon's fire. If that was so, he had to make sure that he would not be in a bad spot where being powerless would be of great detriment. Luckily he had much physical training under his belt, enough to provide him good sustainability regardless of ability. [Edit: I forgot how to spell.]

Prologue: The Hunt for Captian Greyhawk.
Adamina sighed in relief as the guard went his way, then continued on with her previous actions of trying to cover the camera. Reclaiming her piece of paper and the medical superglue from her first aid kit, she combined the two to make a thoughtfully prepared, sticky paper coating for the lens. The next users of the room would thank her for sure. Cleaning superglue from a sensitive glass surface would take days to completely remove. "Serves them right for trying to rid the privacy of my entourage," she spoke aloud for whatever microphones were lying around in wait, huffing equally loudly. It took but a moment to return to the group, and she sat alongside them, her bird eyes alternating between each of them. Tibarn, you realise this would be your third drink for the day, yes? she commented mentally to the rogue, followed by an audible sigh. Nevertheless, your idea is sound. The comms are down, likely because of an electronic jammer, so we will have to rely on mental communication unless we take down the cause of this interference. Daniel, you can sever the link with me in favour of the captain. He'll want to know what's up. Tibarn, write key information so I can follow in on the conversation. It was exciting to take charge like this. She was used to giving orders to sick or wounded people, but for fully hale individuals it still seemed new. She liked it, though she handed over the reins to the captain once he entered the mental conversation.

Crystal is essentially earth element, though a very brittle and sharp form of it. Gather a hearty amount of crystals and jettison them from Aqua's hands like a BB gun or shotgun shell. That'll do some damage. Air is a very, VERY effective element as well. Aqua could levitate, create burst winds, and redirect or strengthen fire and fire magic. An elementalist would be a terrific all-rounder, though they rely on allies and their surroundings to be successful.

I can’t get the Carousel of Progress theme out of my head now. No wonder Walt loved that show.......
Sorry for the late reply, but better that than the Carousal of Progress. =P Drunken revelries abound in that, though at the very least it is progressive.

Overworld RP *COMPLETE*
- Odin, rethinking his strategy against the Wyrm - A frown overtook Odin as his sword missed its mark somehow, and instead of attempting to strike anew he leaped off of the creature's back with all haste, expecting a counterattack. He did not expect the beast to leap such a height in an effort to crush him soon after he landed, nor the explosive blast of energy from the creature's back. Hmm, this creature can produce such energy waves from more than its mouth? What a terrible beast to fight. Regardless, the lightning rod Sifrei planted on its back is still there, with the dragon as its grounding source. This will make killing it all the easier with as many lightning users as we have, he pondered to himself, eyes glancing towards the others as they rhythmically attacked the beast. Unfortunately, they did not coordinate attacks very often simultaneously. Odin waited to attempt a simultaneous attack, cutting down crystals that rained down from the ceiling or otherwise dodging them, until he found his opportunity. Mariel hovered overhead and unleashed her second sonic scream, and Odin leapt for the beast's head at incredible speeds. Withstanding the sonic waves that thrummed in his ears, he drew his sword back and attempted a single strike at both of the beast's horns, next to its ears or otherwise its brain. If struck by his lightning-aided blade, both horns would act as a tuning fork, amplifying the sonic damage of Mariel's scream tenfold. He hoped this might greatly harm the beast, or at least take away its hearing. Removing any one of the five senses leaves the affected very vulnerable. "Art of Reverb," he whispered, his words hidden within the scream's cone of effect before he exited and landed safely on the ground. His ears still rang with Mariel's attack, and it would take a short while before he could hear everything normally again.

Prologue: The Hunt for Captian Greyhawk.
In the heat of the moment, it seems that the lady at the front of the establishment had forgotten to accept the payment of the 10,000 credits Adamina offered to pay for the room, which was quite all right, as she had no thought about using the room as anything other than a foothold in the building. With luck, they could just exit through the back and become one with the bustling throng outside, without having to pay. The lady would doubtlessly not try to collect until they next come into the entry room. Adamina accepted Daniel's hand wordlessly as they migrated further into the room, the mind conversation coming into fruition in the back of her subconscious. It was . . . unique, for lack of a better word, but at least she had free reign of what she did or did not want to say. Her eyes trailed along the lavishly decorated room, looking for wire taps and cameras, a notorious yet possible issue commonly seen in such establishments and hotels alike. Amidst some of the embellishments, she caught sight of a lens, just above the door's sill at the only entrance, and her eyes narrowed unconsciously as a result. +Heads up, folks,+ she inwardly communicated, trying to send along with her thoughts an image of the camera's location. +Just above the door, a camera. We'll have to be careful of what we say, too, if anything, in case there are taps. I'll take care of the camera. You two think up a plan.+ She raised herself to her feet, her talons clawing at the lovely, newly laid carpet spread out along the floor. Taking out her medkit, she spread out its components on a small reading table nearby and found what she was looking for. Satisfied, she also perused the contents of the reading table, and was pleased to find something within it that was lightweight: a lunch and dinner menu. How nice, she pondered as she proceeded to tear off a section of the paper menu out of the camera's eye. She also committed to memory the drink menu in that small lapse of time, even if there were a few confusing words within it. She did not get far into her acts of taking care of the camera before the guard from before came in, acting as a courteous attendant. Strangely, she did not expect such a service. She thought guards were more meatheads than waiting individuals, though he was certainly an exception. Pouching her newfound slip of paper, she was quick to react to the man. "Just distilled water for me, please, or whatever you have that did not come from asteroid ice," she voiced, patting down her clothing nonchalantly before leaning back to the others. "Anything for you two? They have quite the variety from their lunch menu in terms of drinks."

The Hunt for Captain Greyhawk [Discussion and Sign Up] [Closed]
A camera is a private VIP lounge? How shady an establishment, likely the type that sells information for political reasons and blackmail. Luckily there are sticky notes to place over it. Also, I am really tempted to knock out the guard and bring everyone to that room, silently. Daniel could use a group telepathy to communicate mentally, Tibarn can use his roguish qualities to break in, and Eclaire and Daniel can push people's minds into ease and to have them tell where the off-limits places are. Jynn's quick thinking would be of help too.

A lot has happened, so the optimal thing you should do is read through the posts, but essentially Odin, Sifrei, and Rabiyu attacked the dragon's back, Mariel attacked a leg with fire and the head with a sonic scream, Eclaire attacked the underbelly and legs very fast, Mikhail is bombing it with his full arsenal, and Alicia used impressive air magic to make it collapse with a downburst. Everybody else is recuperating from the dragon's breath attack.

Prologue: The Hunt for Captian Greyhawk.
Kicking herself for entering such an establishment would have come first and foremost to Adamina had there not been an ulterior reason for doing so, and much like Tibarn she hated being here. Nevertheless, the situation was very fortuitous. While suspicious characters loomed around the area, the cameras faced in odd angles and kept Tibarn, Daniel, and herself out of their line of sight. Leave it to Solomond to hack into the cameras and change their angles, she thought to herself, quite pleased as she checked on the surveillance of the room. That was better than a loop, though assuredly someone would come out to fix the angles after someone checks in on the camera feed. They must be quick in finding the entrance to the ship, or elsewise blend in with the local crowd. The older human lady at the desk was there, perhaps still interested in the news slate, or maybe a crossword or Universal Sudoku puzzle. With a grin, she nudged Tibarn and commented, "I'll show you who's a slowpoke" as she passed him by. "You're the owner of this establishment, I take it? I'd like a surprise special for the three of us"--she pointed at the two behind her--"in one private room for me and my hunny-buns here. No services required. Just the room. I'll pay ten grand up front. Consider it an . . . investment."

- Odin and Rufus Contralto, against the crystal-heart dragon - Odin watched cautiously as he stepped into the room, eyeing the crystals with wariness. Nothing spelled out danger more than a room of crystal shards pointing outward, but that was not the only thing to be wary of, it seems. Jynn took the brunt of that new danger and was withdrawn from the fight, and Odin was quick to react to the burst of energy aimed at the group. "Earlisin Multiple Teleport," he voiced, reaching out to Alderon and Visco and teleporting them before teleporting himself. The other humans of the group he had full faith in moving out of the way, as he did to all of the fey, but the two royals he dared not let get injured. Everyone would appear out of the way of the blast, and Odin felt a drop in his magical reserves. He would replenish it soon, but moving people out of the way that may not have been able to otherwise came foremost. Rufus did the same, slipping upwards to get a good glance at the dragon before doing a little jig and trying to nullify its magic, if it had any. The Xeno'jiiva was a monstrous beast, however, and if it had any magic of its own it would be very difficult to constrain. Rufus put extra effort into his nullification as a result, his cheeks turning colour as he held his breath. Odin drew his blade and followed Dawson's advice. Creatures as powerful as this one, engorging itself upon the fallen, would be difficult to kill unless crippled. The wings, the forefeet, the hind feet, the eyes themselves -- wounding any one of these enough, and the bunch would have a better time fighting the dragon. Odin tried a different tactic than physical wounding, however. With lightning-aided speed he flung himself into the air, attempting to lash onto the creatures back, draw back his sword, and plunge it into the creature's flesh. It would do no physical damage and would bypass normal defenses, but it would paint Odin in new light to the dragon's eyes if successful: an understanding, or a feeling of affiliation, or maybe a re-imaging of a small and playful xeno'jiiva hatchling. Such was the power of his sword, and Odin tried anything that might work if the attack was successful.

I would consult a doctor or nurse before this, but melatonin tablets are effective. Elsewise, do something relaxing before bed, have less screen time before bed, and maybe have herbal teas or decaffeinated coffee instead of traditional teas and coffees.
