October 20, 20169 yr The only thing with Nintendo is when they do add more "mature" games, all they end-up getting are ports and original, experimental games that don't do very well. Some of this is okay, and expands the Nintendo fanbase and gives them a bit more of an edge with players of games like Bayonetta. But other games like Devils Third was gonna flop, at least out in North America, because it felt like it was trying too hard to be "mature". Nintendo needs to pick the games that WILL do well to put on their system. But then that means the game devs need to actually make good games and not worry about making games for a specific system. It's all well and good to make games that are exclusive, but in this new environment of cross-platform gaming, you need to make a game good, before making a specific game for a specific system. /end rant I definitely agree with you there. Previously developers of companies like CD Projekt RED said that Nintendo's new console will definitely be something they'd be interested in working with. So we just might see some good ports over to it like CD Projekt RED's Cyberpunk 2077 hitting Nintendo Switch. But to be honest for now, I think i'll stick with my Xbox and PC until we see how this console does in a longer run. The only thing that would really get me to buy this console is if my friends really wanted me to pick it up to play some games with them. Pretty much the same reason why I ended up with a 3DS.

Well, yeah I pretty much only play games now because of my friends, or if I want to play with my family. I am definitely going to wait to buy it too because I don't have enough money to be throwing it at every new thing that crosses my path! It will be good to see what Nintendo's next step will be!

Yeah I don't have the money to throw around at everything either sadly. If anything, Xbox's Project Scorpio would be more in my sights than Nintendo Switch, and it would definitely be something that I would most likely save my money for over Nintendo Switch if it turns out to be appealing to me.
October 20, 20169 yr Well I think $400.00 is a pretty reasonable price for this new system. I would definitely drop that much money for this thing. that seems like a good price for at the start but a little to exepise for me. 400.00 is waaay too high because remember they have too compete with PS and Xbox and the PS slim is 299.99. It needs to be at the price of the PS slim or just a bit lower like 249.99. So does this console have backwards compatibility? definitely not since it uses cartridges but it looks like it will have ports.

So it's probably going to look a little costlier than PS Slim. I'd guess 300 at the lowest, but tree fiddy 350.00 is probably going to be the estimate. Edited October 20, 20169 yr by Geralt

True, but they are cutting costs buy not using Discs and I think I remember hearing a rumor that they didn't want it to be too expensive (it's still just a rumor but still worth noting). while it is a two in one, the console it self is the tablet and as far as we know the dock is just for putting it on the TV which shouldn't be that expensive, but they haven't said if the dock does something else like boost to power or not. depending on what this thing can really do I think 249.99 should be the lowest and 349.99 should be the highest for it because if it's 399.99 then they are going into PS4 pro and Xbox Scorpio territory and it will be a PS3 moment all over again.

True enough. Honestly, I think we'll just have to wait and see as the hardware specs and all the nitty gritty little details come out and then we'll see what this console really does, how it all works, and what not. If a cost isn't released by then I do think we'll all at least have a much better rounded figure on it.

I think 49.99 is a good price, since it would be that nice middle ground between a standard 3ds game and a standard console game price.

That would definitely be a great price for the games, and would make the console more attractive on the market as well.
October 20, 20169 yr Nintendo Switch,I don't really like the name, but it doesn't matter,Wii,Wii U and Xbox One also have weird names. The controller looks...interesting,I guess its like the gamepad but you can carry it everywhere, the new Mario game looks fun,its like 3D world and 3D world was great. My only concern so far is that Mario Kart 8 port,it seem to have new features like the two item slots and King Boo,I hope they make it DLC for the Wii U version,it would suck to pay 60$ again for Mario Kart 8 just for some extra content
October 20, 20169 yr Well I think $400.00 is a pretty reasonable price for this new system. I would definitely drop that much money for this thing. Too expensive that's on par with the PS4 Pro in price which is advertised as a 4K gaming system that would be a bad idea They need 2 OR 3 SKUs 299 for the dock and handheld 199-250 for the handheld 350 for everything But you forget that this is a 2-in-1 console which is a lot pricier to make and comes with a lot more items. Geralt the problem with that thinking is that most console players don't care about the handheld variant they want a powerful machine, so unless the Switch is as powerful as the PS4 Pro in any capacity , I would hold off on thinking it's going to be anywhere near ps4 pro in terms of price, this device needs to attract both the console and handheld market, especially handheld considering that is the main part of the system itself, so it needs to be priced attractively.

October 20, 20169 yr Now that was pretty Nintendo. I still feel like the commercial itself was a little too generic, like it wasn't necessarily showcasing a Nintendo product but more of the newest computer, but the console itself looks pretty promising. Can't wait to find out more about this. Hopefully they keep up a better job at marketing and promoting the thing than they did with the Wii U, considering how radically different this is.
October 20, 20169 yr I'm still waiting for the hardware specs. It feels like the Wii U all over again, but with a gamepad you can take outside of home+not a mandatory controller. In other words, I'll wait for more information before deciding towards buying this. Well I think $400.00 is a pretty reasonable price for this new system. I would definitely drop that much money for this thing.Quite a terrible price as it will compete with PS4 Pro at the same price. It will at least have to be a bundle to even consider that price point. Am I the only one who thinks that it has a stupid name?I think it's stupid as well, but it gets the point across and at least isn't some dumbshit name like "New Wii U." October 21, 20169 yr Seems like Nintendo is becoming much more welcoming to the competitive gaming community... Surprising, because often time you think of Nintendo as being a casual games company. See, this is how Nintendo will always stay relevant. People always criticise its gimmicks, but soon enough the power, price, and convenience of a PC will surpass consoles who seek for more power and to be an entertainment system when PC can do all of that. Yet, every gen since GameCube, Nintendo has went for gimmicks time after time - and even though it could be a hit or miss, as the Wii and Wii U were respectively, Nintendo doesn't let up. Props, big N. Props.
October 21, 20169 yr Well, this is very interesting! It seems that the Nintendo Switch is aiming to provide a good gaming experience at home and on the go! We'll have to wait and see if this approach to make a console hybrid works out well! One can only hope! I'm certainly interested in it, but the controllers are a little on the small side, as other members here have mentioned! I hope this is something that's fixed before the end product ships, ya know? That isn't to say I'll get it immediately! I'll wait and see if the Switch ends up having a good gaming library! Then, and only then, would I pick one up!

They're definitely using their strengths for this one, which is fantastic. They're definitely learning from their mistakes and making sure that the Switch will be a success. I can't wait to try one out!
October 21, 20169 yr This console looks very promising. Nintendo can already produce a strong lineup of games by porting games like Donkey Kong Country 2 and Xenoblade Chronicles X. Shame that Nintendo are going silent again after the reveal of the system.
