Yes, but I never said "hey guys it's been confirmed".

Technically you didn't say anything, which is what caused my misunderstanding.

Now I see you just quoted everyone just so we'd see it since most of the peeps who posted here aren't following the thread, but I didn't really think of that possibility until after xD

Nope.

Well isn't that kind of a red flag then? How can there be special items for a "Final Fantasy XI Mobile" if there is no such thing? They didn't even mention it as a new title like the I-IX one, just as if it was a thing that was already out there. I want to believe this, but it kind of looks like a bit of an Achilles heel to me.

There is a FF XI Mobile, or there will be eventually.

Okay but if that's the case why hasn't it been released yet? They were supposed to in 2016 weren't they? Seems a bit late into the game now.

Wasn't II.8 supposed to come out in 2016 as well? Does it seems a bit late into the game now? Delays happen, just because a game misses its release date doesn't mean it can't come out at a later date.

This is all pretty crazy intel if it turns out to be true. This is so much material planned for next year and i feel as though Square are really careful about releasing games too close to each other. This only lowers the chances IMO of KH3 coming out late next year, but is still good news nonetheless

That Crystal Complete Edition sounds way too crazy to be real. It's possible I guess, but that's a lot to pack together and I doubt many people would get it, considering the inevitable high price.

Actually, it seems entirely possible. This is a PS4 we're talking about. And far as the price goes, people will buy it. It's the perfect way to warm up to the Golden Age of the Final Fantasy franchise. Plus, with the PS4 lack of PS1 emulation, it seems all the more reason to create this. Hopefully, there's enough supply to meet demand!

1-9 on a single disc? I don't know much about game sizes and disc space but that seems like a lot.

... Then again, 1.5+2.5. Idk.

You've just answered your own question. 1.5+2.5 are games that used a PlayStation 2 graphical engine. This collection is using NES, SNES, Mobile and PS1 graphical engines. Plus, it's just emulation. This is more than feasible (and desired too seeing as Final Fantasy is no longer turn based).

My concern wasn't whether or not the PS4 could handle it, it's more that the Crystal Complete Edition seems to me more like a hardcore fan's wishlist of what all would be included in a hypothetical collector's edition with limitless options. It's not 100% unlikely, but it just seems like a bit too much to me. It'd be at least $400 too, which would be a lot to spend on the special edition of a game. I know there are some really dedicated fans that would go with that version if it were real, but I don't know if it would really be a profitable option.

Yeah but there's a clear difference. II.8's new release date was still given at least 2 months prior, as far as we know we have not been given any new release date for a XI Mobile. And yet if this leak is to be believed, then in addition to the game already spontaneously being released by that point, we should also expect new content to be packaged in this super-collector's edition as well. It seems even more odd because the OP didn't even highlight XI's presence there, not even an acknowledgement like "oh hey, looks like XI Mobile will be releasing soon too!", it just sort of casually mentions it, as if it were no consequence. The logic just doesn't add up to me. Unless this is really supposed to be like how Square handled Unchained X in that they dropped an announcement and release date out of nowhere and then released the game a week later, and we're just supposed to anticipate this kind of practice from them from now on whenever it comes to mobile phone games, I'm going to be looking at this with a bit more skepticism, even if I might want it to happen.

It's not going to be as expensive as you're assuming it to be. Rare Replay is a collection from Commodore 64 all the way to Xbox 360 games and that was around $30/£30. That has far more content than this hypothetical collectors edition of Final Fantasy anyway so it's entirely affordable too.

Dude look at the link. The site says mid 2018 for that.

... I suppose I did.

Also, regarding the CCE, this is Square Enix we're talking about. Some of the CEs they've had have been pretty expensive. And while 1-9 could probably the usual price of a PS4 game, CCE would have... 3 more PS4 games (unless XIV is the PC version), 2 more PS4 collections, and a bunch of merch. I can't say anything about Rare Replay because I don't know most of the games and I don't know how long they are, but I don't see Square putting all of the CCE stuff at even 300, let alone 30.

Don't get too worried, it's still just a leak/rumour so it may be wrong.

Anyhow, I'd love to play 6 on the PS4 since I've heard marvellous things! With this collection, the 13 trilogy, XV, Zodiac Age and 10/10-2, that means that every final fantasy game besides 11 is on one console!!! Pretty awesome xD

As Axel said yesterday, "Rip XI"

Good point about having everything together though. That'd be pretty convenient even if I'm still trying to find PS1 versions of some of these lol

It's the same thing, delays always happen, we of all people should know that, just look at FFXV, how many years did that one took? Yeah... Besides, if this leak is real it's obvious from a SE internal source, and by then they have every intention of XI mobile to be already released or at least close to it, and it wouldn't be the first time SE gives away things for a mobile game before the actual game is actually released.

You're missing the point, I'm skeptical because it just barely mentioned XI in there without even mentioning that it was going to be released, and it didn't even say anything like it would be out at that time. It's like if I.5+II.5 came out with a bundle with II.8 and the description for it's contents said "The playable versions of 358/2 Days HD and Re:Coded HD will have extra DLC content". That would just be coming out of nowhere if they never gave a sort of announcement of any sort of playable version of those titles prior to that. I'm not upset at a delay, I'm upset at a apparent lack of consistency and communication. Unless this really is a leak and it's not supposed to be displayed to the public until after a formal XI Mobile announcement has been made, but time is ticking for that.

Like I said, this is probably an inside leak, from a report done in house for SE investors, it was never meant to be out for the general public, the eventual annoucment would be done AFTER XI Mobile was already out in the open so it wouldn't be strange.

Besides, why is it so strange to give away suff for a mobile game? Those thigs are filled with P2W crap like that. And XI Mobile was already formally annouced almost a year ago, it just wasn't released yet. So the mention of XI mobile doesn't make this suspicious, it actually provides some credability to the leak.

Okay look, my train of thought is that talking about stuff like bonus stuff for a mobile game typically does not or should not happen until said game is actually released or announced to be releasing soon. If it is actually insider info that was never meant to be seen by anyone other than other employees than that changes everything, because it would actually make sense for them to be discussing that prior to any such formal release announcement.

But that's IF this turns out to be true. There's still just as much chance of it being fake, or at least mistaken.

I understand that, but you have to think how these leaks usually go, it's usually someone from the inside that usually gives away stuff to outside sources so it's safe to assume this is one of those instances. Now if you take into consideration all that plus the source track record of being right with their leaks, especially ones coming from SE themselves, plus the 30th anniversary site with a big coming soon on the front plus the fact that a XIII PS4 collection has been hinted at for a while already it's safe to say that something is going up. Obviously it's still just a rumor that can go either way, but right now it looks like chances are high for this one to be real, at least some part of it.

Alright I'll concede that it's a good possibility given how these things work, but it's still just a frustrating inconsistency to me. I'll probably be better at ease once they announce a release date for XI Mobile.

You really that bothered by it? It's a MMO, and a mobile game to booth, they have to have a long term plan for the game, heck, even XV, a regular SP game has a long term plan already in motion to keep the game fresh for at least a year, this is nothing really new or unheard off really.

It's VGleaks, not some random bloke. It's very credible and VG leaks can never cite sources, else the source will get slammed for copyright or whatever. It has been in development since 2014, remember when Shinji Hashimoto trolled people into thinking FF7R was coming out but it was the PS4 port of FF7? It's been in devel

Actually, I read a number of the author's other articles, and he gave sources on almost all of them. The only article of his that I found that did not contain sources is littered with false information. This same guy claimed that Uncharted 4 would be revealed at E3 2013 (It was revealed in November 2013) and claimed that PS4 exclusive FF game would be revealed at E3 2013 as well (He was right about an FF game being "revealed at E3 2013, but we know now that it wasn't a PS4 exclusive).
