December 23, 20168 yr DOOM was absolutely amazing World of Final Fantasy was beautiful Final Fantasy XV was fantastic, but some of the story could use a little work Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney: Spirit of Justice was sensational I loved Overwatch Uncharted 4: A Thief's End was sensational This year had such a great line up and I can't wait for 2017
December 23, 20168 yr That's an oddly specific list to go off of for our answers... Haven't played any of them, so I'll say what my favorite overall is: Pokemon Sun/Moon. It's one of the best Pokemon games in ages, and feels like Game Freak really took their time to improve upon Gen VI. It feels like exactly what the 20th anniversary game should have been. More postgame would be nice, but the main story was great enough to make up for that. Second place would be Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past. It's a remake, and it technically came out in Japan a few years ago, but I'm willing to put my usual rules to the side for this one since it's a complete overhaul of the original. I haven't finished it yet, but it's a massive game and definitely my favorite entry in the series so far. Third place would be Fire Emblem Fates. It's a fun game with a ton of content. I know long-time fans of the series despise it, but I really enjoyed it. I also really liked Pokken Tournament, Stardew Valley, and Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
December 23, 20168 yr out of the new releases i played this year, i'm gonna roll with Ratchet and Clank on PS4. i remember being so excited for that game and it definitely met my expectations. the gameplay was a blast and the graphics were beautiful. the few gripes i had with the game were the weak story (which i blame on the movie) and a lack of 60 fps, which has been consistent throughout the series (except for Into the Nexus, i think). the 60 fps thing isn't so much of a problem, but damn if they had delivered a really solid narrative this game would have been a straight up 10/10. still, it's a video game and it delivered in the area where it counts the most, imo. the gameplay is top notch. it's amazing how well the formula of the Ratchet and Clank games have held up since the PS2 era. Insomniac really perfected the gameplay and it shows because it's still as fun as ever. it's the perfect game to play when you just want to blow stuff up and have a good time. the game provided a very entertaining experience with some good replay value for only $40, which is insane! i'm pretty sure i played the game 3 times back to back to back. it makes me want to see what Insomniac will do with a new Ratchet and Clank game with an original story. here's hoping we get to see a new Ratchet and Clank game sometime in the near future.
December 23, 20168 yr I personally really liked Mafia 3. Though the masses would disagree i'm sure.And I know it's an expansion, but The Witcher 3: Blood and Wine. I mean come on, that was AMAZING. December 23, 20168 yr Hmm I've played a number of great games this year. In no particular order, I'll go with Gravity Rush Remastered, Final Fantasy XV, Xenoblade Chronicles X (I got this at Christmas last year so I pretty much played it this year), Pokémon Moon, Hatsune Miku: Project Diva X, Shadowverse and BOXBOXBOY! I spent most of my time trying to clear backlogs this year tbh.
December 23, 20168 yr I really haven't purchased many games this year, but my favorites would definitely be Fire Emblem Fates. I've played both Conquest and Birthright, though I am torn on which is my preferred game. Both have their pros and cons. While the game most certainly had room for improvement, especially in the story department, I like the addition of shurikens and, in general, I thought they were both very good games. My number one favorite would probably be Final Fantasy XV, but since I technically haven't played the game myself it would be unfair of me to make this claim.
