I keeps seeing everywhere that people want to see Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts 3 because Star Wars is now owned by Disney but Star Wars has been in Kingdom Hearts from the very beginning. Heck, Terra's plot in Birth By Sleep is beat for beat almost identical to the plot Revenge Of The Sith. I even think Birth By Sleep is a complete ripoff of Revenge Of The Sith because Birth By Sleep came out five years after Revenge Of The Sith did.

I thought I was the only one that thought that Revenge of the Sith=Birth by Sleep.

Because Revenge of the Jedi is totally the first example of using the "good person becomes bad" trope ever. Not like other examples could be cited before it, including some from the same exact franchise.

Star Wars still shouldn't be in Kingdom Hearts anyway.

And you're right of course, there are plenty of stories that are similar but do they follow this close to each other?:

-Anakin and Terra are idealistic young men who are part of a mystical order of defenders (Jedi and Keyblade Weilders) who only wish to do their duty and protect their loved ones.

-Anakin and Terra are held back by their superiors (Eraqus and the Jedi Council) out of fear of their potential power and the fact that they have self control issues.

-In comes the creepy yet entertainingly hammy old villain (Palpatine and Xehanort) who proceeds to give them the encouragement that they so desperately desire and promises of the power that they seek.

-The hammy old villain then proceeds to hire other villains (Braig and Vanitas, Dooku) to test their new pet project and then the hired villains are defeated with the power of the Dark Side/Darkness.

-The old villain then tricks the Anakin/Terra into attacking and turning against their loved ones and superiors in order to further corrupt them.

-Eventually Anakin/Terra is corrupted fully and eventually becomes a black clad super villain who wields red laser blades.

That seems a little too similar to be a coincidence.

Yes. Yes they do. Because people are perfectly capable of seeking arbitrary coincidences to try and say that two stories are exactly the same while ignoring the actual key differences that set them far apart.

Did Terra end up as the main villain of KH1? And did Anakin end up inside Palpatine? ... bad phrasing, but you know what I mean...

1) Yes, he was because Ansem was still half Terra. 2) No, Anakin was not possessed by Palpatine but Palpatine did have a similar plan as Xehanort in the novels (which until recently were canon and came out long before Kingdom Hearts): he commissioned empty clones of himself so that in case he died, his power over the Dark Side would allow him to transfer his soul into a new body. Sound like a certain thirteen Nobodies we know?

1) He's still far more close to Xehanort than Terra. Terra didn't even fully give into Darkness like Anakin or even Riku did, he mainly just got bodyjacked.

2) That's an obscure reference to bring up in relation to your point but even so, Xehanort's version is the only one to bear fruit, plus extend out to different modes of action considering some of his incarnations had their own agendas.

Fair enough, but Terra still gave in just enough for the bodyjack to happen.

Actually, Palpatines clone body plan lasted for a good number of novels and he got quite a bit of evil done. He only lost because clone bodies tend to degenerate really quickly so he ran out before more could be made.

You are correct in that lots of stories use a similar "fallen to evil" plot but in the wide, wide world of nerdism and geekery, how many of them are as prominent as Star Wars and Kingdom Hearts? How many follow these exact plots so closely? Yes, I could be reaching with these connections because I haven't read all that much sci-fi and fantasy literature and because these two are the most prominent in my mind but the connections are still there.

Hm yeah does reminds me of this video:

There's also:
Xehanort(anakin) Wants to bring balance back to The World (Xehanort Reports BBS/Revenge of the Sith) but swallows the worlds in darkness in order to achieve it. There's the light and dark sides of a "force," neither sides being evil, but temptation is easy on either side. There are some who utilize the dark side (Luke(EU)/Riku) without succumbing to it completely.

Yeah, I know what you mean, Deadpoolio! The similarities between Revenge Of The Sith and Birth By Sleep are definitely present! Nomura himself has said that he's a big fan of Star Wars, and so maybe that influenced him over Birth By Sleep's plot! There are indeed many elements that are similar to Star Wars! I agree that BBS has the most Star Wars-ish vibe, and it makes me excited for how Star Wars could potentially fit into Kingdom Hearts in the not so distant future! Probably by the next saga, we'll come to see this pass!

Ooh, and also, the Assault On The Dreadnought Gummi Ship mission on Kingdom Hearts II serves as a sort of tribute to the attack on the Death Star from A New Hope! The similarities are indeed there! :3

I think you meant Revenge of the Sith...

Anakin and Terra are very similar that's true and Xehanort is kinda like the Emperor but not really, but I wouldn't say the plots of BBS and Revenge of the Sith are similar.Xehanort isn't trying to build an empire and Star Wars isn't really about friendship and saving to world, its more about politic, the clone war and the force. They have some similarities but they don't feel the same to me

If only this were a real thing

Same shit, different movie.

They all "rhyme", remember?

Nomura is a big fan of Star Wars so seeing some influences does not surprise me.

Star wars is not in KH still it just has things similar and a small influence because Nomura was a fan of it and wrote the plot for KH games.
