And, since a world based on this film has been confirmed to appear in KH3, she will undoubtedly appear in Corona's Kingdom (or whetever Rapunzel's world will be called) in KH3 as the main antagonist.

Now, let's get to the point of this thread. Think about it for a second: as Flynn Rider told us in the prologue of the movie, Mother Gothel has been selfishly using the Golden Flower's magical healing power for HUNDREDS OF YEARS (he doesn't say exactly how many years, but many fans speculate it's about 400/500 years) and became completely overprotective of this item to the point of kidnapping an infant Rapunzel, isolating themselves in a tower and raising the girl as her own daughter only to abuse the magical power of Rapunzel's hair. Now, there is a reason why I highlighted and caps-locked the words "HUNDREDS OF YEARS". Why I did this, you may ask yourselves? It's simple. The answer is quite simple, with three words: The Keyblade War.

Since this old lady has been living for so many (hundreds of) years, Master Xehanort (and/or any of his 12 vessels) will probably visit this world to ask her if she knows anything about The Keyblade War (which, in my opinion, she surely has heard some stuff about it, considering how old she is).

 

Anyway, let me hear your opinions, please.

That possibility certainly exists. However, Disney villains haven't really been important to the main plot, with the exception of Maleficent. Others like Jafar only contributed in the first game.

 

Still, seeing another Disney villain be important to the plot would be nice. Especially with Mother Grothel's backstory, it would make things interesting.

That's a good point. She goes to the flower for centuries and stays alive for all that time. It does make you wonder if indeed she has any idea about the Keyblade War. I am leaning toward no, but you never know.

Well, they shouldn't, but KH characters somehow know there are other worlds and events that took place in them (e.g King Triton somehow knew about The Keyblade War back in KH1, Master Xehanort informed Maleficent back in BBS about outside worlds).

Y'know. that's a genuinely legitimate point. Nomura did reassure fans that Disney worlds in Kingdom Hearts III are going to be more integral to the lore. I wonder where Marluxia's going to fit into all of this...

That would be a nice twist indeed.maybe after we beat her she trys to save herself by claiming she was there when it happens and knows something very important. Maybe she saw what was inside the box of the master of masters

I really doubt it. Each world has their own sense of time, as explained in Dream Drop Distance during a conversation between Riku and Joshua. Hundreds of years for Corona might not exactly be hundreds of years for the rest of the worlds. Plus, she really seems like the last person I would ever expect to know of the Keyblade War just simply by being "old enough". Sure, Triton knew of the Keyblade, but he's a freaking son of a god and a king of the ocean, it makes sense for him to be aware of otherworldly matters like the Keyblade, other worlds, and the Keyholes. If Ariel was a Princess of Heart, he'd probably be twice as overprotective than he already is. Mother Gothel just doesn't come across to me as being the same kind of person where it would make sense for them to know of this much. Not to mention some other characters are probably around a similar age like Yen Sid and Merlin, and yet they still only know of the Keyblade War as a legend (though I guess this could just also mean they aren't as old as they let on, I guess...?). Point is, I'm just not getting that vibe from her. Yes, theoretically if she existed long enough to go from the Age of Fairy Tales to today odds are she would have been around to see it (that is, if we're assuming that every world in it's present form also existed as separate areas of the same world as Daybreak Town, but so far they haven't gone as far to suggest that), but does she really seem like the kind of character who would naturally have that knowledge, let alone even care enough to remember it? I don't think so, it doesn't make sense like it does with Triton, even if she was around for it, it likely didn't concern her. Besides, they tend to be pretty particular about which Disney characters get to be integral or even somewhat integral to the plot. It's usually just the main-series Mickey cast and more classic iconic characters like Yen Sid and Maleficent, from a marketing perspective that also makes more sense.

well nomura said the disney stuff would Have greater influence again regarding the main Kingdom hearts plot  so that would be a good start.

I don't know, still doesn't work for me. She just doesn't come off as having that kind of info. Sorry.

It's been promised that the Disney Worlds will be more involved with the main plot and lore in KHIII. 

 

So this is quite plausible and I'm on board with it. 

I'd love for Mother Gothal to have more than knowledge of the war but experience in it. Perhaps she was a welder in her real youth and fought but came to hunger for the power so avariciously that her heart was consumed by darkness.

 

Or something along those lines. This is just a rough thought. 

It would also be interesting to give her some backstory with Young Xehanort.
