Don't tell me the black stuff on Solgaleo and Lunala has something to do with Necromza?

Wait a second...

Necrozma has Prism Armor, will this have to do with that ablility? at least will be more useful.

I am so conflicted by the existence of this game...

That's my guess. The third iterations of each generation (Whether it's an enhanced version like Blue/Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, Or Platinum; or sequels like W2/B2 and now US/UM) always focus on the third legendary in the main trio, Necrozma seemed to take that role for Gen VII.

Seriously, it's not even E3 yet, and already I can tell I am going to be broke for the rest of the year! I am super excited for Ultra Sun and Pokemon Sun was the version I played last year. And I can't wait for the other Pokemon games announced as well! I am even looking forward to going back to the classic Johto region! Man, I am pumped for the rest of the year and E3! (Plus, I get the third Yo-Kai Watch 2 game and Pokemon this year, which is going to be awesome!) :D

Ugh... 3DS only.

Nintendo, I try to like you. I really try. But you just make it so... difficult.

Oh well, there's always hope for Gen 4 remakes on the Switch at E3. But I probably won't waste my time on these.

Nintendo doesn't make these games, GameFreak does. Also, this shouldn't be a surprise. Black 2 and White 2 came out almost two years after the 3DS was released, those have become the most popular recent games. We've had evidence that we won't be getting a Switch Pokemon game for a few years now. GameFreak just recently opened job listings for what's clearly a Switch Pokemon game, and the opening's up until next summer. We won't be seeing a Switch game until Gen VIII.

Nintendo is the only one that controls publishing of Pokemon games, so the distinction is pretty moot. It's not like Game Freak can hold Nintendo hostage.

But the thing is we DO have a Pokemon game coming for the Switch. And it's a port. It's just not the port people really want. I get the B2/W2 comparison (which is the only thing that gives me hope, since those were miles better than the original games), but given the quickness of the release date and that the engine they're using is so obviously dated, it's just a money-grab, which disappoints me.

They don't make the games, though. Nintendo's not the one to blame for how the game's being developed.

People were begging for a Pokken port up until the actual reveal, now everyone says it's something no one ever wanted. I saw a lot of requests for Pokken on the Switch, and now that it's here, everyone's furious. As for US/UM, it's the same thing that's been done with the series almost every generation. At this point, we've only seen a short teaser. It's the same engine, sure, but that doesn't mean that it's going to be a lazy cash-grab. The same thing could've been said about B2/W2.

My only problem with this is that the trailer doesn't really show enough new things to warrant getting it as of now. Oh hey, a Pikachu van? That's cool I guess. Necrozma fused with Solgaleo and Lunala, better but expected. If they showed something like Pokemon following you or maybe a longer cutscene like in the trailer I would be more excited.

We'll probably get more information at E3 though.

I mean... there's no way Nintendo doesn't have a say in what gets developed. They're not the ones doing the day to day coding, sure, but they call the overall shots, especially in regards to system availability.

Right, B2/W2 were also pushing things in terms of system capabilities, but that's actually the only example; everything else took an appropriate bow after the console generation finished (and since all 3DS's can play DS games, there's some allowable crossover anyway). Until now. Now it's becoming habit for Nintendo to release things on their old handhelds because they want to milk every cent.

The Switch is the successor to the Wii U, not the 3DS. Nintendo has said that the 3DS isn't dead yet and that they have a lot of games coming up for it still. Pokemon has primarily been a handheld series, Switch is a portable console so switching over to it (no pun intended) would take a lot of resources. Going from the 3DS to a full HD system is a huge jump and something that GameFreak's going to need time to work on.

It should be the successor to both, which circles back to "why, Nintendo, why?". Cornering the handheld market made them complacent. At SOME POINT there's going to be a Pokemon mainline game for the Switch; they had an opportunity to do it here (Game Freak HAS the HD models of everything, so it's doable) but instead they chose to make a quick re-hash. I guess I can't be disappointed that there's something rather than nothing, but as is usual, there's a lot of squandered potential. Oh well. Next year.

If there will be a gen8. I have my doubts.

Anyway I hope that this title will have (full) 3D support.

Why wouldn't there be a Gen VIII...? Pokemon won't just end with this generation, people are saying that it will for no real reason. There's no reason for GameFreak to end the series now, it's still incredibly popular.

Unless they make it a New 3DS exclusive (which they really should have done), it won't be. The original 3DS barely ran Sun and Moon in 2D.

Switching (haha) consoles mid-generation would be a monumentally stupid idea and also inconsistent (not to mention the Switch has only been out for a few months, and developers tend to take a few years before they get a grip on a console's full capabilities); keep that for Gen. 8 at the earliest, because at least then people will have had time to prepare.

Financially inconsistent, maybe (this is definitely motivated by a desire for more sales =P) but they had all the tools available. They were afraid of the Switch's possible failure (which, given the Wii U's flop, was warranted!). But from a game design perspective, they've long since maxed out what the 3DS can do. At this point it just looks sloppy. And a port would not only have been reasonable, it could have been a system seller. It's just all so backwards looking, and that's disappointing.

Pokémon will always be popular. There will be a moment to end the series.

Or the original could handle it but didn't add it so people will buy Ultra Sun&Moon.

We only saw a 60 second or so trailer. There wasn't enough time to show many new things. Plus they said there would be an alternate story so I think there's more we haven't seen.

They probably already have gen VIII in development (where do you think yongoos comes from?). They've been giving hints in the games for a while now. In Black/White 2 someone said something about a movie star from another region (Diantha?). And anyone remember the strange tiki head you get from a guy in the hotel?

Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, huh? Interesting!

Funnily enough though, I haven't even finished my first playthrough of Pokemon Sun! I've been so focused on Kingdom Hearts 2.8 and 1.5+2.5 that I haven't played anything else recently! xD

I don't know if I should get Ultra Sun, though...I need to finish regular Sun first!

Relax. You have 5 moths to finish.
