Have the KH series become fanservice (too much)?

About the time travel part: it doesn't work like that in the KH universe. Every person who is getting brought into the future can only stay temporarily there. Afterwards they have to return to their own time (just like Ansem, Xemnas and YX did at the end of DDD) and they also will lose any memory about having been in the future. So getting Roxas, Xion or anyone else back can't work :P

Why does everyone think Lauriam is able to wield a Keyblade? We never saw him with one. Just because he is the new Union Leader, doesn't mean he can wield a Keyblade.(Spoilers to the latest Ux update ahead)

From the cutscenes, it was implied that Streletzia is the 5th, but he eliminated her and took her place.

For all we know, his weapon could still be his scythe. As for Ansem and Xemnas, Felixx explains it perfectly.

Honestly, I believe that Nomura has a purpose with each of the characters that he decides to bring back, so really, I just chalk it up to having faith in what roles these characters will play. Concerning the latest update regarding Union X, I'm particularly excited because of the reveal there, and well, I'm just very eager to see where the story goes next!

And really, I don't see the problem with characters getting Keyblades. I mean, it's only a handful of people, it's not like we're getting back to the age of fairy tales, where there's literally thousands, if not millions of Keyblade Wielders, ya know? Compared to back then, the amount of Keyblade Wielders present currently in the series are very few, in my honest opinion. And it's bound to happen that after the Xehanort Saga ends, Keyblade Wielders will once again become bountiful, ya know?

But yes, I'm sure Nomura knows what he's doing. And even if Lea wields a Keyblade now, he can always use a Keyblade Transformation to transform said Keyblade into his Chakrams, ya know?

yes. im pretty sure theres an interview floating around out there about KH2 where Nomura says originally Axel was going to die bie Roxas' hand in the prologue but he ended up keeping him around because people liked him so far. resulting in a much less dramatic and poetic "death" where he sacrifices himself to save Sora against...endlessly spawning mooks. wow. axel is a good representation of the fanservice in KH. him getting a keyblade just solidified that position.

it was nice when wielding the keyblade had some real weight and meaning to it. now it feels like wielding a keyblade comes standard these days and everyone can get one just by sheer act of wanting it bad enough.

i don't get the idea presented in DDD that Axel trained to wield a keyblade. like, doesn't the keyblade chose it's master based on their strength of heart? how do you train for that?

it all comes down to this basic rule: the more of something you have, the less value it can gain. now that there are so many keyblades in the series they don't really mean anything. they're just another weapon characters can use.

It depends on how they're going to wrap things up and tie things together and where the story is going. It's too early to tell. I'm find with fanservice as long as it's done for a good reason. As long as it has an important purpose to the plot. For example, every says that they're only bringing back Roxas because of fanservice, but Nomura stated in a recent interview that he can't reveal too much behind why that is because it'll literally spoil everything. Which means Roxas returning is crucial to the plot of KH3 somehow. Which gives me hope.

The same might go for everything else. The new stuff happening in Union Cross included. We just gotta wait and see.

And it's never been confirmed that the "5th Dandelion Union Leader" can wield a Keyblade. His whole motivation behind what he did could be because he wants a Keyblade. Who knows.

Exactly, they can't come back through time travel. Somehow, Sora will have to get Roxas, Xion and Namine back by opening up to the darkness.

Funny thing...I wouldn't yet would be surprise that they bring back the Foretellers in KH3-it will happen! Anyways...I'm hoping for Demyx's, Larxene's, and Luxford's Somebodies to appear. I need backstory!

If we went by this, the story and series would have ended about ten years ago. Then there would be no KH3 and if that happened, according to the fanbase, the world would end. There is no fanservice here. It's only to keep the story going to KH3. It's also meant to enrich the series.
