So apparently, there is actual liquid in the Chef's keyblade

Yeah. I suppose it's cool that she had such a strong will that she literally had to be forced to fall to darkness, but that dark ball of darkness was still a pretty silly way to go.
As for the Vanitas fight, yeah it would have been smarter for her to use her barrier and she ought to have known better. But it was a split second decision on her end and as we've seen in the past, Aqua's better judgement tends to lapse when her friends are concerned (I'm just going to dive in after my possessed friend into a dark hole that leads to god knows where and sacrifice my only means of transportation to send him back to the surface. What could possibly go wrong)

She is pretty headstrong I guess

...I have no explanation for her just standing there gawking while Terranort attacked Ven though

That was just pure cutscene incompetence

I guess it's a shame for people who wanted to see her do more badass things, that we see her get beaten 3 times

Yeah that's the main issue I think. Her just standing there

Was done to serve the plot of Donald and LW's big moments I guess

Aqua definitely wasn't at her A game here. Considering all the bullshit she had gone through up until this point though, I can't say I blame her. At least she made a good party member and playable character when you fought Vanitas. (I squealed so hard when you got to play as her)

After Sora, Aqua is my favorite playable character

Ah, that was a good moment. I was surprised for sure

Aqua has a 360 barrier spell I do wonder why she never used it outside of combat

Like in game combat

It would literally avoid every problem she had this game

Convenient forgetfulness for the plot

I guess that's a common problem with games, having game mechanics not play a part in the cutscenes

It's always to just make the villain seem stronger because the usually can make use of their abilities

Imagine abilities like glide were used in cutscenes xD

Yeah...

Glide is used at times tbh.

But not in a fight scene

Just summon big magic mountain and solve every fight seasalt_shinji

or just call any summon

Instant I frames

Yeah haha, stop Xemnas kidnapping Kairi by using Ralph's stun

Got my shit mixed up

Xehanort is threatening you with the x blade. Summon Ariel.

Summon ALL of them at once

This is why game mechanics can't be relied upon for theories either

Fire is strong in kh3 because it was his first spell y'know

That sounds like theory

A Game Theory

Basically

I don't like it when theories point to game mechanics that may or may not be canon

That's why even my comment about Sora using magic without a keyblade is iffy

Because who's to say he didn't use magic and just let beast do everything

Maybe you don’t need a key blade to use magic.

But you need some sort of weapon to focus your magic. Or else it You won’t have control over it andwon’t hit his target

Or maybe it’s just easier to use magic with a weapon in the kingdom hearts universe
