If the original intention was to have that character be a liar then yes it's a plot twist.

If anything you have to pre-establish something in order to twist it

Look, in KH2 Xemnas is an almost tragic villain

Honestly if DDD never existed and we went straight to 3 this would be way simpler

From certain cutscenes we know that he places his trust far more in people like saix and zexion
