Haha, I get it

Because the game was developed in Unreal Engine 4

ba dum tiss

Links are just a worse summon

Boy, what you talking about.

Ariel’s Link is best thing in the whole franchise.

Worse as in significance

not actual strength

Well summons weren’t really much significant in the first Kingdom Hearts aside from the healers.

Tinker Bell is the only Significant Summon in KH1. Because her summon doesn’t remove party members and she’s constantly healing and can save you from dying.

I mean like story significance

in KH1, the summons were of individuals who had lost their worlds, and they could be summoned back to the realm of light because their hearts were strong enough

Mushu strats though ? ? ?

Summons are way more interesting than links to me

in KH2, each summons significance went down slightly as they were simplified to trinkets, but they were essentially being pulled across the universe to soras side

in KH3, Links are just Soras "feelings" about these people manifesting into power

they are not the actual individuals and are essentially a glorified weapon

just another tool in soras arsenal

Except it's not Sora's feelings but the characters. The whole thing about D-link is connecting that characters heart and borrowing their arsenal. KH3 just takes that as a step forward and summons the persons heart as a body instead

That tool Yin Sid gave Sora in KH3.

It’s called a “Heart Binder.” Right?

Well maybe it’s a “Heart Binder” because it’s Binds the Hearts to Sora.

The Heart of the characters come to Sora’s aid and takes form of how Sora remembers them.

Why else is Ariel a mermaid in the link in KH3 when at the the end of KH2, Ariel became a human.

It’s because it’s Ariels Heart coming to aid Sora and takes the form of how Sora remembers Ariel.

The only thing scratching this whole theory is Wreck it Ralf. Sora never met him before. So I don’t know how he comes into play.

I mean did Ventus even go to that world?

@EliDZ_1563036152 actually there's a practical reason for links, Disney didn't want summons anymore as they didn't want characters to crossover into each others worlds, so the dev team made up an excuse to use them by saying that "it was just magic and not actually the characters"

So really you are completely correct, but you put in a lot of effort for this ?

At least you can give them credit for coming up with a reason that still makes sense rather than the developers just saying "firetruck it, they are just there because Disney yaddi yaddi yadda"

Yeah, I completely understand, Tbh I would have liked a little more tie in of gameplay and story

Just small things such as attraction flow being explained and such

And perhaps you noticed but many people figured from the trailers that links were similar to d links because sora uses ven's d link animation to use them

Or even sora learning shotlock from a BBS protag

There's something to be said for the lack of ludo narrative here

One positive thing to come from KH3, it's really made me analyse a lot of what I like and dislike thoroughly, as before I would just go along with most shit and consume. Now I feel like I have a good handle on a lot of different stuff that play into such things, ludonarrative for one, compelling plot, continuity, behind the scenes drama, production etc

It's made me much more confident in being able to articulate exactly what I feel rather than memeing 24/7

Haha perhaps most of you would prefer that to not be the case though

That's a good thing

You can balance the memes and the seriousness

Balance is always good

hadesthink

U not wrong there

You're far too balanced though

pain damn centrist

:thinkingchief:

:vanitasthink:

So balanced it's unbalanced

Balanception
