Not liking the story presented doens't mean it's any less "show don't tell" and disliking the direction of things doesn't mean that either

Okay, I'll break it down.
KH3 never let's the player be in charge of decisions, which were to some extent always available in previous games. E.g skipping worlds or doing them out of order.

When we are given plot, for example the in between cutscenes in the gummi ship, it's just the writer aka Nomura telling us what's happening "we can't save Aqua/Roxas yet" or in Saix's case, putting his entire KH3 arc in reports (literally telling vs showing), or Aqua's ptsd, we are not given any context whatsoever as a player to think that Aqua should be tired and suffering after effects. We are just told "aqua you should rest" instead of seeing fatigue.

That's tell don't show which is an objectively bad way of writing

This is where I have to disagree. It's subjective. KH3 didn't do it the best but tell don't show can work wonderfully if done properly
