> It's not about how much time she's present, it's about how well the time is utilized.
Except being asleep for 80% of the game is not how you utilize her character. If anything that's being a plot device than an actual character to explore anything. KH1 had plenty of opportunities to show Kairi in either flashbacks or other ways to convey Kairi more.
> In the beginning of KH1 she is shown to have her own drive in regards to the raft
Sshe had the story about finding more about herself, but KH1 did firetruck all with it and the future games completely ignored it except for BBS, but that didn't do anything for Kairi herself but more for the fans.
> Then when she wakes up she still has her personality, as well as shows courage for asking to go along with Sora.
Fair, I will give you that one.
> Then at the end of the game you can see that despite her bringing back Sora from his heartless status because she was a PoH, there was still a deep connection with the two. It's a very effective scene exactly because it's a great pay off to Sora endlessly going after her in KH1.
See, I can't really agree with this because their relationship has been so surface level that there's barely anything there. At least Riku was a jealous dick, but we see how he went there. Kairi on the other hand only had the beginning of the game to see anything of her, and then a few more minutes right before turning Sora back to normal
> but that's KH1's magic, it manages to make us care about the characters and like them and root for them despite how simple it is.
Maybe this is the reason why I don't think she is a good written character at all is because I didn't start with KH1. The magic you are talking about is completely lost when you have played another game and come to this one where Kairi is barely anything of a character, but still has a focal point in the story.

Oh wow

That's long

ah

I wrote more here than in my Terra essay

Alright, let's go

That's just a joke

I mean otti. I think your starting of another game isn't really that fair a point?
