I actually read an analysis that explains that with the way Xemnas had Kairi, she physically COULDN'T fight back

That's not really a 1-1 comparison,with Kairi's arm literally being twisted further

who also trained in a place where time doesnt flow, they had all the reasons to make her actually do something in 3 but didnt, regardless of how he helf her arm it was a bad move on the writers

Honestly the training thing wouldn't be as controversial if they just had it a forest instead of a hyperbolic time chamber

I probably started reading that before tumblr crashed on me

I also seen a few takes that suggest that there's a difference between training and experience. Kairi may have done the training, but her lack of experience against a gang of immensely powerful foes who are more unpredictable than Heartless did her in

Yeah,Sora kinda didn't do any "switch keyblade to my other hand and stab you" manevers to YX...

the issue is that she was used as a damsel in distress again

She shouldnt have been used as a damsel again, and we should get a section where she saves herself from the demon tornado thing and saves sora

I saw a post somewhere on tumblr saying a simple way to fix Kairi a bit. Before being defeated, have the player play as her in a scripted boss fight where she loses

I thought this was pretty fair. Though this is where Nomura's weakness of tell and don't show comes into play. I feel like a portion where we play as Kairi with clunky fighting out of KH1 or at least a few scenes where we see her low level fighting would have made her inexperience more believable

You mean like.. after being captured?

Again, Nomura ain't the best storyteller

Or how about when the demon tornado sucked up Sora, we play as Kairi in an instance to keep Sora tethered to the realm of light and she wins
