Yeah Idk it is a big problem within the splatoon community who were desperately hoping they would once the online service hit.

I guess you could say it's because they are kind of behind on the times with anything online related in their games. They werent big on the competitive aspect to a lot of their games for a while so I guess they never felt the need to try.
