That's essentially every big company

Which is a shame

So long as they aren't total douches, I am fine with it

Really, the thing that saddens me regarding the backwards compatibility issue is that there is some legwork required when it comes to making retro games available digitally, that being the ever growing nightmare known as licensing

That is especially true in regards to Sony since they were essentially the third party game machine of the PS1-PS3 gens.

Making the console retro compatible in the physical department helps solve that issue because now it's all a matter of buying that old game and plopping it right in (as long as it's not one of those rare games).

But couldn't the opposite happen? By making ps2 games physically compatible with ps4 for instance, all of a sudden those people who buy for "collection" won't be the only customers, and there's a hell of a lot of ps2 games out there that suddenly became viable to buy for a fiver or so again.

I mean, it's possible.

It's all kinda up in the air still, it could go either way.

I just don't see it happening and I sure as hell don't want to expect it to happen only to be disappointed if it doesn't

Oh yeah, I definitely am not expecting it

But I am cynically hoping for it if that makes sense

Unskippable cutscenes in 4k hadesthink

PS1 and PS2 games are actually a possible prospect for me

PS3 games sound very farfetched though

We could play ps2 discs on ps4 right now if Sony wanted

pain

As far as I understand it every Blu-Ray player can by extension read DVDs, so yeah.

Although they can't read CDs, so the PS1 is kinda screwed

There was a time when my ps4 was purely a dvd player seasalt_shinji

My ps2 stopped reading dual layer discs unfortunately ?

quack

Rip

If only we could take PSNow out of the equation

Then there would be more incentive to pursue the backwards compatibility of PS1-PS3

Aww man

Do I just tether myself to reality and stay calm and reasonable, or do I allow the flames of hype to burn anew.

Wait until the official announcement and take it from there

The 2015 New 3DS could still play 2005 DS games, that’s one of the things that made the DS series of consoles awesome.

Very cool Otti

I guess waiting is what life's all about at the end of the day.

its about doing

Depends on the context

and then waiting for other things while doing other stuff
