If anything, not buying the games doesn't do a thing, and the worse thing happen. People are fired and lose their job and they simmply make another game without the original devs. The higher ups will never have to take the blow in a boycott, ever

No it's not, there's precedent for it

Gen v did a little bit worse than expected and gamefreak immediately tried to rectify what some fans didn't like
