Each orbment had a center hole from which all lines of that orbment extend. The center hole is considered part of every line.
Each character has a different orbment configuration with six holes in addition to the center hole.
You place a quartz in each hole.
Quartz types are earth, water, fire, wind, time, space, and mirage; Each type has a color and contributes to the magic you can cast with your arts (during battle or under the orbment tab when not in battle).
Each quartz contains 1 or more pieces of its primary color and may also contain pieces of other colors.
From the center, each orbment may have all the holes in one line (Kloe & Scherazard) or in two or three lines, or in four lines (Zane).
The types of quartz installed in the holes in each line determines the types of magic you have available.
Your Bracer Notebook Memo1 tab magic pages explain the combinations of quartz colors you need to put together in a single line to obtain each magic capability.
Some few quartz also provide you with certain battle enhancements.
