Games is different because of the amount of shit you have to add and fix to make it work

With animation they don't, which is why dubbing is a pain because they are forced to make the lines fit in with what the Japanese said

Since when do anime have any semblance of lip syncing or whatever tho lol shouldn’t they have more leeway with that

It's more like if in Japanese they take 10 seconds to say a line then the English one is forced to do the same

They can't change stuff around

Honestly I beg to differ that they can’t add or remove a few words from the literal translation to make it match with the timing better more often than not

That's what they have to do

They can't change a line around to fit the context better in English, in the same way you can in a manga for example

In the anime you can maybe change some stuff around but it's harder to do

then add in cold reading for the VAs in English and that's why a lot of dubs don't end up great

Point is, dubbing is a last minute process, if it's happening it's going to be announced later

Well maybe that’s why we don’t get better translated works is because they wait till the last goddamn minute all the time then like wtf lol

Like if my experiences with Ux is any example, when people translate the updates as they come out and by the time they finally localize it, pretty much the same shit is being said just with different words and most of the time it wouldn’t even really take any longer to be spoken either way so I just don’t get why it could take so long to get those translations out for example when they’re needlessly changing what was said in the first place but I digress
