My issue with the confidants isn't that they are times

It's that they never affect the main story

but you get to spend some alone time

Seriously, Ryuji was such a great character during his confidant route and the main story completely ignored that

That's sadly more to do with the fact that they need to account for people who don't do those, sadly @Otti#8624

What you choose during the interactions affects how fast the link/confidant goes

Shinji Social Link is a Perfect Example

if you chose the wrong option, you get no points

Makoto: Should we do this plan or the other one, Joker?
Joker: Let's do plan B
Makoto: Nevermind, we will do plan A instead

No matter what you choose in the main story, none of your decisions matter
