Sure, the 3ds games had high poly models for the sae of future proofing... but that's it.. they're high poly. They'd still need to be animated and brushed up

Which, unfortunately from current footage, they haven't done yet(here's to hoping they do)

i also heard because of dynamax each pokemon has 4 models

And there's people who constnatly bring up other pokemon games like the Stadium games, the colossium games, and battle revolution... but those were all done by different devleopers.. not gamefreak

And there's people who used the xenoblade chronicles situation, where there was only 40 internal devs on it as "40 devs worked on xenoblade chronicles 2".. no, other devs came to help them out

If I would be Nintendo/GF I would have removed all the old Pokemon and would have announced that the franchise is getting a reboot bc there are too many of them. And the fanbase would have accepted this. Releasing and promoting Sword and Shield like this was a really bad move

And the most important thing to consider is that GameFreak is transisiting from SD 3D handheld developement.. to HD 3D console developement

and also bc of the switch announcement they could promote the game as "this is the new era of pokemon"

Gen 5 actually made that its whole deal, but it was more a soft boot than anything

It starts you off with only the new pokemon of the region

all 150 of them or so

as long as some game down the line has online with all of them later it will be fine

and it built the balancing and experience around that

Only after you beat it, do older pokemon start appearing in the grass

it was a really smart decision

and then nintendo could announce that all of the older games will always be available on every nintendo console in the future (virtual console)

and everyone would be happy

It's so damn easy

but people complained after gen 5 and hated it for doing that, so.. now ever since after gen 5, they pander hard to the gen 1 only crowd

who don't even buy the games...

literally, the gen 1 only crowd, even with all this pandering to them lately, don't bother anyway, so.. what's the point of pandering?

It was pokemon's best attempt at a story, and it still holds up, i feel.. SuMo tried the same, and it was pretty unique as an experience too, bu there was only one issue I had with it..

the factt that once again, they were pandering to the gen 1 crowd

yup.. that's what SuMo shoulda done, then it'd be even better, because it really feels like "Wow, this is a topical region that's far off from other places"

"This place is pretty differnet, it has a different culture, a different way Rite of Passage(trials insead of gyms), all the pokemon are brand new.."

I think alola forms helped with that they were gen 1 sure but at least they were somewhat new
