What I like about their rendition, is how much is sounds like an intense argument, if that makes sense.

It does.

Ventus’s theme being so brassy and deep, it’s fighting back, only for Vanitas to come in with those big, loud, mechanical sounds. Then Sora’s theme comes in with all his light and it sounds like hope and possible salvation, only for the angry, percussion to come in again.

In the end, at least to me, it sounds like a standstill. Sora choosing to not give up, but Vanitas too brainwashed to think he could be nothing but Darkness and Anger.

I did this with Aqua awhile back, not here but in a conversation, on why I thought the Destati cover was the best rendition on the whole album.
