btw

has anyone ever spent 200 hours on destiny islands

if you know you know

Riku may be a playable keyblade wielder in Kingdom Heart 3, but he will never be granted the privledge of illustraded icon.

i dont remember seeing that in hud portrait textures

and a poorly made one bc they didnt even bother cutting the borders to make it fit in kh3

Looked up a gameplay video, that is fake

folks so desperate to hate on KH3 they just making stuff up now

despite not having anything especially wrong compared to the rest of the franchise

Just happened across this series on YT someone made call "Fall of The Kingdom." I'm like, "what's that?" Homies making a retrospective series talking essentially about "how this series lost him."

You all know what this means? Thats right, we've ascended; Kingdom Hearts as a WHOLE was in fact the Waste of Effort the whole time 😔

Plot twist.

"it was all a waste of time?"
delet "always has been"

Can I just say how sick KH3 Re Mind was thematically in terms of Sora reconnecting and piecing everything together

implying KH2 made the series "fall" is a statement that makes me feel a mixture of pity and indigestion

well you gotta admit, it did start several of the series, what some consider, narrative problems lol

Retcons, plot complications, returning characters, bunch of new ones

It just had a tight knit ending (that would get undone later lmao]

KH2s story did indeed begin the trend of the retcons, but I think retcons are actually good for a series health

if done correctly

2's still my favorite and all but, it cast a shadow over the rest of this franchise that honestly still lingers lol in good and bad ways.

like the ultimate decision to change the fact that Sora wasnt the only keyblade wielder is a good choice

its just they turned everybody into one thats the problem

KH2 is what I'd call "endgame syndrome"

where you created a story that wraps up quite nicely and now youre forced to branch out the story and experiment

see what works and what dont

this will ultimatley lead to things as good as aquas sacrifice for terra to "its time you saw what hurt feels like"

KH3 is kind of the "Avengers: Doomsday" if you will of the series where it has the responsibility of taking the concepts of the experimental games and combine them back together in 1 narrative

If you could call it a "problem", one of my only true "problems" with 2 is that I feel like the wrong lessons were taken from it, by the Dev teams and Nomura, the fandom too.

2 removed 1's element of puzzles to the worlds and bosses, but exchanged them for faster combat that, while fun and with plenty of depth, simplified the system, make magic worthless minus reflect, and was significantly more "trial and error," favoring optimization as opposed to experimentation.

We would see this with BBS, (thunder surge lmao), and 3D (Baloon lmao).

Narratively it also began moving the series in a way where the crossover elements feel superfluous. I love the original characters and storylines, but it felt to me as it was turning its back on its roots for a while, and taking for granted its elements, hence nomura saying he thought FF characters "weren't needed" in 3. Or why the TWEWY cast never came back despite their popularity and new fans being made; for World and FF. Plus, because the heroes never got a true victory til 3, and even then it wasn't complete, it lead to fatigue and frustration, and a lot of stretching of people's patience and good will.

Then fans for the next 14 years hate each game cause its not like 2 but I feel folks dont even know what that means half the time lmao.

eh I'd say the team behind KH2 cant be faulted for what came after as post KH2 as several of the members left the team

KH2 being the game to start making the FF characters irrelevant isnt a fault of kh2, but the current writing teams and to some extent nomuras choices in narrative direction

2 had the benefit of standing on its own much more than 3. The only game standing between 1 and 2 is Chain of Memories and with how the story of KH2 starts, you are just as lost as Sora on what is happening so CoM isn't needed.

3 on the other hand has a firetruckton of games inbetween that are arguably numbered games but have names instead

BBS is KH3, DDD is KH4 and KH3 is KH5

You have way more characters with a lot of story in KH3 that you need to cover while also bringing in people who didn't play those games

KH3 was kind of doomed to not be everyones favorite game

It is hard to call DDD 3.5 when it is the literal continuation of KH2's ending with Sora reading the bottle

No KH game is everyone's favorite lol

KH2 starts with Sora being lost but his whole journey of finding his friends is continuing from KH1
