Honestly, Nomura probably is feeling loads of things, many many different things... I don’t think he really leans into one feeling or another

He literally states it in the interview above. Certain stuff will overlap but Verum Rex is still it's own thing. He definitely feels something about V13 not being a thing, so he's bringing some concepts back while making Verum Rex something that related to KH in specific ways. There isn't more to it than that.

if you notice him talking bout yorzora after kh3 releases he seem renewed by him and excited to work with his story

tbh using a story that nomura already planned years ago is in this case a smart move because it means he doesn't have to create an entire new story. In his current situation he probably doesn't have the time to completely focus on KH due to FF7R :linkus3:
