I got so done with AC when I heard that they killed off the main antagonist that transcends the entire timeline in a comic

I think from my understanding what they meant was the story will remain the same but they will put additionals like they did with Part 1, now for all we know they might make Zack live in Rebirth, however they might have him killed off differently later in a way it might have more of a emotional impact for Cloud and Aerith, who will likely die too but differently in front of Cloud.

Zack being alive in any capacity would have major consequences on the story, I just don't see how the story can be the same if he's alive even if he dies later. Cloud's whole character arc is based off of the PTSD he got from Nibelheim, Hojo's experimentations and Zack's death. Zack being alive would fundamentally ruin a huge part of it, not to mention the whole two Buster Sword things going on. And if it is all multiple timelines then that would absolutely derail the whole story to something else because that was never a thing in OG. If it's just there to say "Zack is alive and went through similar things!" and it doesn't affect the main one then it's all pointless stuff to add to a narrative that doesn't need it.

I don't think Zack will wield the Buster sword in Rebirth though

The simplest answer to all of this is Zack is dead and what we see of him is in the lifestream, it's something that's already part of the FF7 universe but also something that hasn't been expanded upon in the original game and spin offs so this would be a great way to showcase it

We see him have it in the Yuffie DLC so I still think he's gonna wield it

Although it depends on when that scene takes place, for all we know it's pre-Nibelheim

My theory is Midgar had turned into a big singularity at the end after they killed the

Harbinger of Fate

, and now it's cutoff from the outside world. It could explain why we see Jess, Wedge, and Biggs being alive on the other hand they can't leave there either, same with Zack and alternate Cloud

I just have a hard time imagining that playing a role to the og story. All of that doesn't sound like something that would add to the story but rather change it.

Well the thing is I don't think Zack and Cloud will cross paths like at all, more like Zack will be busy in Midgar, while Cloud is busy chasing Sephiroth in Rebirth

I think Zack is just in the life-stream and will help from there

It's like those moments in some shows or movies where you died but you don't notice

Yeah I am thinking the same thing

As much as love that kind of twist, the honest answer is we don't know yet. I don't have a correct answer. All we have is speculation and theories at this point. The only thing I do know for certain is we will have our answers when it actually releases.

He would be in a purgatory state of not being able to move on, which would also explain him still carrying the Buster Sword as he think he's still alive

While I rather go with the lifestream theory, yes that seems to be a likely scenario it might not turn out as simple as that. If considered the additions of Part 1 changing fate theme it will make things complicated to put 2 and 2 together. So at this point it's hard to say what they are going to do with the story, on the other hand I think the end goal will remain the same at the end.

this except literally the entirety of this remake trilogy, at least until closer toward the end maybe, is taking place in the lifestream post-AC or post-OG

Yeah that's fair

its the only thing i can really see happening that would explain Aerith and Sephiroth knowing more than they should and the changes

I don't really believe in the whole the remake trilogy is a sequel thing either

I find that to be way more complex than it needs to be

It already was complex in Part 1 though

It's going to be like that JJ Abrams first star trek movie, probably

also, that screenshot from twitter, when did they confirm CC7R was going to connect to 7R?

Never seen anything of Star Trek, I should do that sometime

or is this another asspull from her bc she is really bad at translating things

a lot of early misinformation comes from her lmfao

From one the new interviews last week, it was just that Crisis Core is still a prequel to 7R like it's to the original game
