idk if it's a hot take or whatever, but i think elden ring is more hyped up than it really needs to be. i haven't played, but i think it's a fine game, a solid entry in the overall souls series/franchise. but i never expected it to be actually considered as a legitimate game of the year candidate, especially with other titles feeling more appropriate for that category
