Personally I’d prefer if all AAA games were announced a year or less from their release date, but I understand why that’s unrealistic in the industry.

Announcing it early allows you to more easily court talent for the studio.

But then you’ve got games like Cyberpunk 2077 where it’s announced when all that exists is a few documented ideas, and some guy goes around promising all of these revolutionary things for the game that are straight up impossible with the available tech and talent.

And don’t forget Anthem, which was announced with a CGI trailer masquerading as gameplay when, in fact, there was no game to play and Bioware started cobbling together the game based off people’s opinions on the reveal.

The entire dev team straight up didnt know that was the game they were making until that reveal, huge wtf.

People are currently wondering if they changed the game's plans and turn it into an actual remaster of the original like some people wanted it. Reason: First Soldier was a massive failure
