because they would then throw new players into a game where they have to start at level 90 with tons of abilities where they have no idea how to use them while putting them into dungeons that still have to be engaging for veteran players.

There's a reason why no one wants to play with storyskippers because they are griefing runs and it's also a common issue in WoW where people can actually start with the current content. It only causes toxicity. In case of XIV they could make it that you can start with Dawntrail by locking people out of the MSQ until they have played all story dungeons and trials once, leveled one character from 1-90 and finished the sprout training.

if people could start Dawntrail immediately without having to do anything I would quit XIV immediately

I don't want to play with other people that are sabotaging runs

It would also destroy their entire marketing. The free trial is what gets most people into the game

If you want to know how it feels like to get thrown into a MMO create a WoW account, boost your character and see how it goes

They are not gonna add a story catchup until XIV is completely done, which means won't happen in the next 10 years

If you join a group and have no firetrucking idea what you are doing they will ban you

people who lack experience and join content where it's required to have experience don't want to play for the team

people like this are just ego driven assholes who think the world is only about them. They don't care what is good for the team

I wish FFXIV would do more to ban these people as well

You are making this an issue that doesn't need to be one. Games have been doing this for an extremely long time for this issue. All you need to do is pair people who have played since the beginning with each other and new players with each other.

This idea that it's going to ruin the game completely will be on the developers, not the players. It's also an insane task to ask every single new player to go through hundreds of hours and hours of content just to play new stuff. Want to ask a friend to join Dawntrail and play together? Get firetrucked new guy, you have to go through all that shit just to play new stuff the veterans are already doing and most likely finished too.

Its a damn video game. People have a life they have to go through. It's just not an issue where you can just tell people to play from the beginning.

And I haven't even said the biggest issue. ARR firetrucking sucks. It really firetrucking does and that easily takes over 50 hours alone if you do it fast enough. That's already the amount of time you take to binge one whole show that's 6 seasons long.

I hope they can make it that 6.1 will be the new starting point in the future. the current arc is just a setup for the expansion after dawntrail

Like don't get me wrong. It's not an easy solution to just make level 90 a new beginning or anything. But as more expansions are coming out, which I highly doubt will stop here, it's just going to get even longer. Asking new players to still start from the start gets even more asinine.

Now that I have more information... I might buy the Digimon Movie re-release but I never bought the original Adventure blu-ray re-release and the same applies to 02. No difference.
