They said “high end”. Translation: it didn’t make all the money ever

It's profitable now going forward, they spent more then they needed to on the development

But but it didnt make a billion sales so therefore a failure.

No it means it did make money but they were hoping for more, the reason why is because this game was made to be more for the casual audience ie. people who didn't like FF before whether it's because of turn based, story or characters.

Seems like turning away from people who are fans of the franchise didn't help their cause as much as they hoped

Square be like: so how much we looking at for cost of the game?

The past few years having the pandemic cut in did not help staff being assured for work either.

Voicework even started beforehand and was paused before it amazingly picked up where it left off.

I already know now that the next FF game is gonna go even more "casual" than 16 was

Can't wait for the RPG aspect to be completely gone

Then again FF16 was barebones, so it's not a high bar to do better than that

FF17 about to become a movie-game at this rate
