Oh riiiiiiiight! I remember what’s going on here! Vivian was referred to as male in the Japanese version, but was changed to female in the localization for some reason.

Strangely not the first time Paper Mario struggled with gender. Watt was confusingly referred to as both genders in the localization, while clearly female in the Japanese version.

Well Vivian was very clearly trans

She referred to herself as a woman

While other people kept deadnaming her and caller her a man

(All except Mario)

In the localization they changed it into her calling herself pretty whilst others called her ugly

That’s…a pretty drastic change

It was very clear explicit trans rep that they got rid of

Yeah I’m not even going to attempt to explain it

So I want uncensored translation. Keep her trans in English releases, Nintendo
