I think even with a paywall it's a great idea. Steam already lets you refund game less than 2 hours of play time, at least with this you can do it with most games.

I think EA used to have a time trial thing behind their sub, not sure if that's still a thing

That’s an awesome idea. I would gladly pay for that. Although I don’t think two hours is enough time to adequately judge some games.

Especially JRPGs. Persona 5 doesn’t really get going until you’re at least five hours in.

And this isn’t by bad design, mind you. It doesn’t really waste any time. It just has a lot to explain plot wise and a lot of mechanics to teach.
