Top Gun: Maverick is such a love letter to the original in every way, easily one of the best movies of the year so far

:pauseCHAMP:

The shift to next gen games is slowly but surely happening

So the State of Play then is just VR2?

Honestly excites me more as itll be my first VR console lol

seriousIy just spIit the TV and Movie channeI from the games one again

IiteraIIy one message apart from the game we have a movie one

VR? That dried up gimmick? I’d expect it to have fizzled out by now.

Sam’s Unwarranted Disney Opinions Ed. 1: Cinderella

When most people think of Disney, the first thing to come to mind is the mouse. This is probably the second or third thing. Whether that’s a good or bad thing, the jury is still out. I find myself falling on the good side. Mostly.

Let me elaborate.

A lot of people are quick to point the finger at this film for poisoning the minds of little girls. And I mean, sure. Cindy’s hardly perfect. Her impulsive dating habits are definitely something to worry about. I mean, you dance with the guy for a few minutes and the very next day you decide to get married?! Who does that?!

But I think people are missing the point. The Prince wasn’t the goal. Nice bonus, sure, but not the goal. The goal was getting to the ball.

And with that in mind, I think there’s a lot of positive virtues to be extracted. Cinderella worked hard to achieve her dream. She was patient with her family, she was kind to her friends, and in the end, it benefited her.

She didn’t have to. She could have been petty and took revenge on her stepsisters or just up and ditched them, but she’s not that kind of person. She handled the situation with kindness and tolerance. She tried to win them over before taking matters into her own hands. That’s very mature, and in my opinion, a great lesson to teach to kids.

And if you don’t see it, just ask Uncle Walt.

its not dry up or a niche if people demand for it.

VR feels like a gimmick because there aren't a lot of games for it that's there for mass appeal. Half Life Alyx changed that up a bit and hopefully more devs will start doing something similar.

gonna be honest, whiIe l Iove the idea of VR, l haven't seen many games that utiIize it weII, or in a Iong-term entertaining way

IiteraIIy the onIy VR game l can say l'd pIay anytime is Beat Saber, that's it

every other one feeIs Iike a one-time thing or something that wouId work better without VR

Tekken 7 on PS4 has it, but onIy in Practice and Character Customization mode, it's reaIIy boring
and then there's Tetris Effect
it Iooks gorgeous in VR fr

This is exactly the problem I have with it. It hasn’t been used in any meaningful way.

So I again repeat the question nobody has been able to answer so far: what can VR do that can’t otherwise be achieved with a first person camera?

¯_(ツ)_/¯

you couId use VR and those funny Iooking metaI sticks in your hands for unique things
or
be extremeIy creative

Brilliant! How did I not think of that before!

Call me old fashioned but I think buttons and a screen are all any designer worth his salt needs to create a masterpiece.

Hell you don’t even need that. DND was made using only 📝

The issue is that games haven't been allowed to be given big enough budgets to actually do something. VR is a great way to immerse yourself in a new way for games, it just needs more companies to get into it.

Valve already did and proved it with Alyx

Sony is getting more into it now too, and if the Horizon VR game is as big of a deal as they said it is, then that will be a huge boost for it too

I really see no reason for VR to not continue

If you don't want to get one and use it then you don't need to

But it's great that it's staying and being worked on

tbh l'm more just happy that it IiteraIIy wasn't just a one-and-done in a few years
