Throwback to this 😔

This happened in 2023

Have they officially announced that they intend to remake FF9? I thought after all the FF7 remake business their intent was to do FFX-3 (even though fans were strongly against the idea) or an FFX remake due to how well every re-release of it had fared.

I feel like I should give more clarification. To what I said earlier. For anyone that cares I guess (likely nobody). There are two reasons why I think FF9 Remake makes the most logical sense for SGF. 1, Square clearly wants to portray that they've 'changed' (yes again) and only seems to want to market one 'huge' game per year as well as, what feels to me anyway, they don't want to put out more than one 'huge' game per year (because of their unrealistic expectations and what happened, according to them anyway, with the FF16 and FF7Rebirth situation) and 2, they want the perception that they announce things 'too early' to be gone. They've gotten better with this in many ways arguably. Except for this franchise (KH).

However... half the year is almost gone already. FF9 Remake for this year, although not impossible, seems extremely unlikely. Which means 2026. Which, by what I just said, would be their 'big' game for that year.

So... yeah...

But I could be wrong (and honestly hope I am). I wouldn't mind FF9 Remake and KH4 for 2026. Just seems very unlikely

if the master of masters name was cut, doesnt that mean they could have ended up changing who they wanted it to be?

:pikaponder:

Oh he K N O W S

Man I totally thought they would’ve given him like a placeholder name to say or just have him stop at “my name is” but no they told him the name

Or maybe they gave him a fake one that’d be even better

Domanda: (AI Overview)

Flop recenti e conseguenze finanziarie:

pretty sure they gave him a fake one on the off chance that he accidentally spilled the beans

Why do you think it would be FF9 that gets a remake? Is that just the one you'd want them to be remaking? Cause I asked if they've said anything about remaking that game because I've never heard anything about them wanting to remake that one. Like FF8 is unlikely, FF9 is in the realm of it'd be a miracle if they did it. Finally making FFX-3 regardless of the lack of demand for it or a remake of FFX are at least ideas that whispers have leaked out about.

maybe for you, but some of us think Encanto and Elemental would make great worlds

The movies tanking doesn't have to mean the worlds based off them end up being bad. To start some of the worlds from movies that didn't land with audiences and/or critics could work thematically with where KH4 takes Sora and the rest of the core cast that ends up appearing in it. Heck a repeated thing you'll see about some of Disney's recent films that didn't land with audiences and/or critics is that the world around the cast of characters in the film is pretty interesting.

Since Sora and Strelitzia are both essentially in a world that could be a metaphor for Purgatory I would imagine films that deal with death and the feelings that frequently surround death would fit in well into KH4. Coco, Encanto, and Elemental all fall into this category and they're all recent. Another visit to The Caribbean/Port Royal can also fit. And if they don't wanna go back to that they can indeed make a world based off of Moana to fill the island adventure quota while still having the chance for more ties to an overarching theme of death.

We additionally already got a glimpse of Donald and Goofy looking for traces of Sora in The Underworld which also fits with the theme of death. I imagine rebirth will also be a big theme in KH4 since I can't picture this series concluding with Sora getting permanently killed off and the time is ticking to finish it if Nomura doesn't want to have to hand it off to someone else.

Films I can See Getting Worlds In KH4:
Soul
Coco
Moana
Encanto
Elemental

That's already plenty for a single game in the series and the number of worlds has been shrinking with each entry. Combine those five with Quadratum, The Underworld, The Caribbean, Yen Sid's Mysterious Tower, Radiant Garden, The Land of Departure, and Destiny Islands and you've got more than enough worlds in the mix. Those last four would probably only appear in cutscenes to save on budget.

Edit: That list of worlds unintentionally totals to 12, KH's fixations are 7 and 13. I guess the 13th world could be something Star Wars related. Or whatever world Yozora really comes from.
