Its good practice for dating in real life.

And it can help you find someone who has similar interests to you.

Who knows maybe you'll meet that person one day.

It's easier and makes for sense for adults to date on the net, rather than teens, because adults can actually arrange to meet each other and stuff. But the bad thing about internet dating is, you never know who your supposed "partner" is. You can be a 14 year old girl and your "boyfriend" could be a 30 year old pedobear who acts like he is 14 or 15.
