KHBbS 2008 Jump Festa possible connection to a future title

Recommended Posts

I just noticed this today. Look up 'birth by sleep jump festa 2008' on youtube and watch the trailer. In the first scene it shows an early concept clip of Terra and Ven in the great maw area of hollow bastion. Terra says 'sometime ago , you saved me, right?'. Note the way that the great maw area of hollow bastion did not exist in birth by sleep, but only in kh2.So how is it that this area exists probably 11-12 years earlier as seen in the 2008 trailer? I believe that the birth by sleep team thought long about the plot and the events to follow. I think that this scene with Ven and Terra in the great maw takes place in kh3d or kh3. Maybe nomura thought that he should remove this part of the story originally intended for birth by sleep in order to expand this part of the story to future titles. Basically my interpretation of the storyline behind the scene is that Ven has just saved Terra from Xehanort. Note the way Terra says 'sometime ago' and 'right' at the start of the scene - he is not quiet sure of the time that ven saved him - which links to professor xehanorts amnesia, and then it would make sense that terra had suffered amnesia aswell. I think nomura had a completely different storyline set for bbs at this time, and vens story where he lost his heart had not been thought up of. This would allow Ven to save Terra. I know that that this would seem too big of a storyline and a big game in terms of memory-almost too big for a psp game but... birth by sleep was originally for the ps2! Nomura could've easily fit all this data on a ps2 disc. But if Ven saved terra in bbs, there would be no Xemnas ,right?Gah,it's confusing, but I think nomura had thought this scene for bbs,but decided on the current storyline instead of the one i described. I think that in a future title, this scene will reappear but ven would be replaced by sora, because sora is the one supposed to be doing the saving. It would make sense too,cos apprentice xehanort met his doom in radiant garden and so he may return along with xehanort(maybe terra is xehanorts new accomplice as teased in recoded secret ending??) . Anyway thanks for reading and tell me what you think of this nearly impossible wacky theory!

The Great Maw was just a place-holder area until they had created the others.

The scene is still in the game, just relocated, and I think they changed the "You saved me sometime ago" to "When I really need you Ven, I'll know you be there"

Well, if what people have been saying about BBS originally taking place after KH2 (still haven't been able to track that interview down; anyone wanna link me?) then it'd make sense. But it was just a beta trailer, so things are bound to change. Like you said, the Great Maw didn't exist yet, so in the final product, they moved that scene over to the castle gardens. As for Terra's line, that was a mistranslation. Since the trailers lack official subtitles, everything has to be done by ear. What Terra said is closer to the English line of "When I really need you Ven, I know you'll be there." He's not referring to a past event, he's foreshadowing a future one.

Uh... would you mind pressing the [Enter] button a few times?

Edit: Damnit, ninja'd. Stupid load time.

Incorrect. In the the first few trailers for Birth by Sleep they show a lot of scenes which in the actual game were relocated. Like the first cutscene you talk about. The one in the Great Maw was relocated to the cutscene which is the end of Radiant Garden for Terra.

Nice theory, but that was still in the early stages of development. You should have seen kh1's first trailer.

He still can, Square Preview and Tokyo Game Show 2001 can be viewed in the Kingdom Hearts Japanese trailers archive.
