Should social medias be taken away?

Posted

I heard about this in class the other day that the UK riot started with chain text mesages and twitter. Also the flash mobs that's been happeninng in the U.S started with facebook. Kiddnappings and grand criminal crimes has been caused because of social media. The prime minister of UK is planning on taking away social medias. Do you think that's a good idea?? http://articles.cnn....ice?_s=PM:WORLD

No. That answer is from less wanting to defend such media as defend principle. If governments start taking away media like that, they might try to take others away as well. Governments are suppose to serve their people, not control them.

Nah. Most people don't. Not here in the states anyway.

No.

However, I do feel that Facebook, which was originally selective to where you had to have a college e-mail to even use the program, should have REMAINED the way it was made. It should have never been open to the public where anyone at any age could make one the reason isn't necessarily for the mobs and everything. But honestly anyone could do the same thing with cell phones, e-mails, and everything. Social networks are just another form of messaging, mobs, kidnapping and stuff could happen with or without those. Mobs could spread even just by TALKING in real life..... =\

Also that's being too controlling of the public, and it doesn't really solve much of anything in the end...

No, no, heavens no!!!!!!!

That would be adding chlorine trifluoride to a fire(It burns everything!). People would be outraged if they were subject as to what could be seen as censorship on an unprecedented scale. If we could have something more along the lines of cyber-police.(yes, I know that isn't much better but would you like garbage or nothing?) I would find that slightly more acceptable. Not everyone should have to suffer because of a bunch of impulsive people decide to do something for ill.

On the upside of Soc. media, (if I remember right) I think it was used by some rebels in Libya to help organize assaults. And if there's bullying going on more people can find out and support one another., and help provide supporting evidence against the antagonist

i think they have to do something thats goood for all of us!

Then they should destroy Facebook, hi5, myspace, and all of that media awesomeness crap.

No, they shouldn't. In Brazil, really, the government doesn't care about it.. Some of should come here haha.
