Kingdom Hearts 3D will have a card size of 4GB

Posted

Nintendo 3DS game cards come in various sizes, ranging from 128MB at the smaller end, up to 2GB at the larger end, with some 4GB cards coming later on. Thanks to a post on Neogaf, we now know that Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance will be on the largest card size, 4GB. This should allow for a lot of content (especially cutscenes, which take up a lot of space) to be included in the game. As a reference, Kingdom Hearts Birth by Sleep fit completely on a 1.8GB UMD.

*the information isn't verified yet, but it's still quite interesting*

i never knew that game cards come in all sizes, they pretty much look the same to me, but cool. looking foward to the game's release

For more references, what about 358/2 Days and Re:coded?

Sounds like we'll get a lot of pre-rendered cutscenes then.

This also should mean that since SE is using a bigger cartridge size, then we should expect the price of the game to cost more than $50.00 here in the U.S. And maybe about $70.00 for Australia knowing that Austarlian games cost $20.00 more than games cost in America. Like with Resident Evil: Revelations. So i wouldn't be suprised to see the game be around that price.

I heard that the 4 gb card was just an excuse for Capcom to jack up the price, they didn't REALLY need to charge more.

I'm glad it's on the bigger card, we'll be getting a ton of content and cutscenes :)

Well, the reason why they even got a bigger cartridge for the game was because they needed a game cartridge that could handle all that data that Resident Evil: Revelations required. Which included the graphics, online multiplayer, cutomizable weapons, and as well as how long the story would be (which was revealed to be 7 hours long. Longer than any other RE game that's been out) So it had nothing to do with gaining more money.

Can't remember exactly, but they were tiny. They were both either 128MB or 256MB.

No I mean that they didn't need to charge more just because they were using a 4gb card, they just charged more for the game and said it was because of the card.

What the fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu**. That's awesome! O_O

Which is true. But they had a reason as to why they increased the price. And, as I stated before, it was because of all the content that they added, The origional cartridge size wasn't able to handle all that data that Capcom had for RE: Revelations. So they asked for a bigger one. But I totally understand what you're getting at here. But the reason they said they increased the price of the card was because of all the extra content for it.

I highly doubt the game will be $50. As far as I'm aware, there is no 3DS game above $40 retail price in the US. Come on, OoT3D was $40, as is Resident Evil (I forget which game it is). $40 is what I'm expecting, and that was the price of BBS when it came out too (I should know, I bought the bundle AND an individual copy of the game so I could have the stupid case).

It'll probably cost here the same amount as Zelda Orcania of Time, Mario Kart 7 etc.

it is not stupid! hear that everyone she said the psp pouch is stupid lol

I hope this is true. Just imagine those 4GB though I doubt the game will take the whole space. :) If this is true, then more scenes for us! or maybe the story is that long.

Also, look at the gameplay footage. With looks like that (and hopefully fully voiced like BbS). we'll be sucking up space like a black hole of KH awesomness.

Daaaang, that's so cool! Sounds like there's going to be tons of awesomeness in that little card!! http://kh13.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/happy.png Then again, I'm betting that a lot of the data used is just from the 3D. Haha still...I'm so excited for it!!!!!

I read this somewhere today actually. It is pretty interesting, and here's to hoping they make good use of the extra space! Oh, and we should also hope that Square Enix doesn't pull a Capcom, and charge $10 more.

Oh yeah, one more thing. I am pretty sure that the maximum 3DS card size is 8GB, not 4. Here is a source. However, 4GB could be a current cap placed, effectively making it the maximum (for now).

I wonder if hackers will find even more extra data left on during production like past titles xD I'm glad that they are using so much data for this game. It sounds like they are really pushing for quality, even if it is for a handheld. Whatever the price will be, it will certainly be worth the price.

O.o wow thats alot of data - ^.^ eeeeek im excited i want it NOE lol

It's the data inside Sora

I'm glad we're getting a LOT of memory out of this game. It'll probably be fully voiced and extensive gameplay!

My point is I actually spent $40 more than I had to. xD

I dot care if the price will be higher I'm glad that this game will be big enough to need the 4GB card! Even more reasons to squirm with anticipation!

Absolutely! I'm sure that Square Enix will make the most of the 4GB space.
