tutti frutti. I stumbled across this for a class assignment and thought that this was worth sharing. I'm sure that there are others that may have come across this already, but I saw that a woman named Danielle Tarantola had cloned her deceased dog. I thought it was pretty interesting, but at the same time awkward for doing so. I haven't really heard much of cloning since the KFC cloning incident years ago. The owner contacted the only animal cloning companin in South Korea and pays $50,000 to do so. The process was a success and the owner gets to spend some more time with her pet dog. Check out the link below to read the article that I have found.

She's not spending more time with her dog. She's spending time with a different dog that happens to share another dogs genes.

And when this dog dies, she'll clone the dog again and name it "Triple Trouble".

I wonder if I can get myself cloned? It's not too late.

I beg you, please don't get cloned....... xD

One is annoying enough

Wow,

If I were that woman, I would clone this:

That's just not right. You can't just replace a pet like that, no matter how much it hurts ._. I'd kill for more time with my pet but cloning would never be an option.

Still, it's amazing you can do this. But it's not surprising. They've been cloning things for years. With the help of a PC we created life not that long ago.

Wow, that woman really, really loved her dog. But now, I kinda wish I had the money and means to try this. Only, unlike her, I would have the clone made whilst my dog is still alive. I think it would be incredibly interesting to see how two dogs that are pretty much the same dog interact.

Now I just wonder how long we are from cloning humans. That, I think, would the most interesting thing ever.

It will pretty much be a major set-back in human rights. There is no doubt that clones will be seen as lesser beings and there is no doubt many of them will be abused horribly, after all, if there are 1 million people that look the same running about then they would probably be considered expendable. The clones will be slaves building our monuments and wars will turn into a matter of who has the most clones to sacrifice.

Hmm, interesting. I never thought of it like that. But, who is to say that there will be that many clones? There really isn't any need. When looking at it that way, they probably shouldn't do it. I've no doubt it will happen, though, and I will still be interested in seeing how it works.

One thing, though. Why would clones be seen as lesser, or at least to such an extreme as you are saying? If it was done in the same was as the dog or the sheep mentioned in the link provided in the first post, they would be almost exactly the same as any normal person. They would still be carried by a mother, would still be born in the same way. Though I guess it is the human mentality to belittle those who have even minuscule differences, racism being the biggest example. *sigh* Why must people be so unaccepting?

EDIT:

Hmm, sorry if this is confusing or it seems like I changed my mind a lot. I was pretty much arguing with myself here...

Think about the labor implications of clones. Need workers? Why not create your own?

They would probably be seen as lesser people because of how many people look exactly like them. Without a doubt there will be some form of clone that will become very desirable and will be massed produced. If there are 1 million people that look the same people will just see them as expendable duplicates.

Communism!

Speaking of which, I really was meaning to get back to you in that old topic. That story was interesting, and I wrote up two long posts to respond to t, but both were destroyed in some way, and I never bothered to write a third.

It wouldn't be the same. The cloned dog won't have the same experiences, so it'll behave in a completely different way.

We CAN clone humans, in theory, it's just highly illegal.

Yeah, it obviously isn't "the same" as in experiences and what not, but they still have essentially the same DNA. I don't know, maybe it is just me, but I would find it interesting. I guess I am just weird.

To the second thing, hmm. I may have to look this up and read about it. I am now intrigued.

DNA doesn't determine anything we recognize about something beyond appearance. The dog would look very very similar, but in no other way would they be alike.

That said, a dog would probably be very confused by it, since it'd most likely have the exact same sent as itself...

Quick! Lets clone Nomura!

Lol, I remember reading about this. I'm really against the idea, not just because cloning would be wrong, but because she loved her dog, and instead of getting another dog that is unique in his own, she gets a dog that she expects to be and act exactly like her previous one. It's just wrong to the poor thing, and dishonoring her previous dog's memory :/

Quick! Lets clone Nomura!

No let clone Gumi for we could always have her randomness XDXD
