Hey Guys,

A new patch of info has come out about the Xbox "720" that it will have a Blu Ray drive, it is scheduled to release in the holiday season of 2013 and the main issue, it MUST require a constant internet connection :/ And this is why Sony invented the Playstation ;)

I love you Playstation 3. You'll never leave me, right?

Sony's new console has the same bullshit and more. Read my thread where I bitch about it.

Dedicated gaming consoles are going to be dead by the end of the decade. PC gaming has been superior for about 10 years now.

Actually it's because back in 1991, Sony and Nintendo were working together to make a console that was pretty much a SNES with a CD drive. But the day after Sony announced this, Nintendo backed out and teamed up with Philips to do the same thing. Sony was all pissed off and made the PlayStation on their own. #antijokechicken

I love how most of the comments are about "And this is why Sony invented the Playstation"

And this is why I believe console developers dont want to make money anymore.

Well, it seems so far (And I don't want to be a fanboy about this) that only Nintendo's Wii U is really holding up to anyone's expectations. Still, I do hope these are only rumors.

tutti frutti. So far I'm just glad Nintendo isn't making me question them with the same rumors I've been reading about the PS4 and the 720. Gotta have my Mario Kart, Smash Bros, Zelda and Mario. Like what some of the stuff that I've read in other threads, I really hope that these are just rumors with the PS4 and 720.

PC games have been superior well before 10 years ago. It's just that PC gaming has never been practical for most people. Three years ago, the computer I am using to type this was perfectly capable of running most any game. Now I'd be lucky if I could run a game at its native framerate on lowest settings. It advances too fast for most people's wallets to keep up, if they want the latest games.

As far as I'm concerned, dedicated gaming consoles still have a lot of fight left, because they offer familiarity. A console can offer gimmicks and dedication a PC can't easily offer, and that's all it really comes down to; ease.

And let's not forget exclusives. Nintendo can keep going for quite a ways if they keep all of their franchises exclusive.

So basically, take a rumor about the PlayStation 4, say the same thing about the Nextbox, and we have a story.

They're RUMORS. Don't take it too seriously until Microsoft or Sony confirms it.

Besides, the Blu-Ray rumor is pretty sketchy, since Sony was a key developer of Blu-Ray, and ANOTHER rumor about the Nextbox says that it won't use disks altogether. So a rumor is about to get crushed no matter what now.

PLAYSTATION FTW!!!!!!

100%!!! FTMFW

True. Though I doubt many will admit it, calling anyone who says so a fanboy. T_T Though the other consoles may still have a chance, as long as about 95% of the rumors are false...

That said, I am really skeptical about this rumor specifically. No source was given... and someone already mentioned the Sony/Blu-Ray thing.

I don't know. The problem is Moores law where computing power doubles every year. The only thing holding super high powered gaming back is that we lack the technology to take advantage of super powerful computers for gaming purposes. Once the breakthrough happens though I feel that the top of the line consoles will be outdated before their first year out.

All consoles are out of date long before they are even conceptualized. This ensures a decent price, and (Hopefully) a profit for the maker.
