Posted May 27, 201213 yr Okay I was thinking. In Final Fantasy games. The characters have mostly last names, but it just hit me that I don't know the last names of Sora, Riku, and Kairi. Do they even have last names?
May 27, 201213 yr Not that I know of I have always been thinking that to Edited May 27, 201213 yr by FMKingdomHearts
May 27, 201213 yr Author Well I'm pretty sure they had a family, Kairi had her grandma in BBS, I just find it weird how none of the kh characters have a last name
May 27, 201213 yr They probably do. Nothing in the games ever forced the charaters to mention them or it's probably not relevant to the plot at this point. Or Nomura got lazy. And that would be, 'KH Surnames,' not, 'KH Last Names.' Edited May 27, 201213 yr by TheApprenticeofKingMickey

May 27, 201213 yr Don't think I'm dumb but whats a "Surname?" The official and correct term of 'last name'.
May 27, 201213 yr they dont have last names. Maybe Nomura didnt feel like giving them a last name but im fine with it
May 27, 201213 yr Oh, I have an idea lets give them Last Names. No wait a whole list of Last Names. We'll send them to Nomura after.
May 27, 201213 yr When ever a Charecter doesn't have a last name, I replace it with whoever created the Charecter So it would be Sora Nomura lol or wait Goofy has a last name Goofy Goof and then Donald Duck, Mickey Mouse..
May 27, 201213 yr John Johnson Peter Peterson Jack Jackson Just add "son" and you have a last name: Sora Sorason Riku Rikuson Kairi Sorason
May 27, 201213 yr Kairi Sorason Don't you mean Kairi Kairison? Typo... or are you implying that the two of them are related / married?! lol Anyway... I noticed that about a week (or less) ago. Especially the Organization... are their Nobody names anagrams of their first names... or last names? Axel is Lea, which is typically a last name (when spelled that way). So for him at least, it seems that he only has a last name (although Lea could be a first name... but it's not that common). And then there's Dilan, same sort of thing. But then there's stuff like Ansem, Braig, and Ienzo which don't seem to be real-world names at all... And Axel is a first name, although it's most likely pure coincedence storywise (as it comes from Lea) and unintended to be a first name concept-wise (as it refers to him being the guy between the "wheels", I think) My guess is that characters simply have a single name. Or if they do have a name that is never mentioned... it's impossible to tell whether these are first names or last names (since no one has a parent with a revealed name). But if I had to take a guess... I'd say that they are first names. Sora (meaning "sky"), Riku (meaning "land"), and Kairi (meaning "sea") sound much like Final Fantasy names like Cloud and Squall, which were both first names. Also the fact that Kairi and Riku refer to Sora as "Sora" implies that it's a first name... since close friends typically don't call each other by last name. Oh, and RPG cliché #7: Some Call Me... Tim? Good guys will only have first names, and bad guys will only have last names. Any bad guy who only has a first name will become a good guy at some point in the game. Good guys' last names may be mentioned in the manual but they will never be referred to in the story. Not saying that this applies to Kingdom Hearts... but it's a general rule of thumb.
